My Requirements

I am seeking an experienced one-to-one tutor to prepare my son for selective independent-school entrance examinations and interview preparation.

He sat the King Edward's School (KES) entrance examination in October 2026 and is awaiting confirmation of a possible interview in November. He may also sit the King's Worcester entrance examination in November. He has applied to The Priory School in Edgbaston, where his taster days are scheduled for 10 and 11 March 2027, and he needs to prepare for its entrance examination.

He recently sat the West Midlands grammar-school 11+ examination and just about met the qualifying threshold. I would like a tutor who can identify his areas for improvement, build on his existing knowledge and develop his confidence.

Tuition should cover English comprehension and writing, mathematics, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning, as relevant to the schools' assessment formats. Preparation for a possible KES interview, including mock interviews and constructive feedback, would also be important.

I am looking for a tutor with genuine, demonstrable experience of independent-school entrance examinations who personally delivers one-to-one lessons. Ideally, the tutor would start with a diagnostic assessment, explain mistakes thoroughly, set targeted work and provide regular progress feedback.

Online tuition is strongly preferred, as it would reduce travelling time and make it easier to fit lessons around my son's existing commitments. I would welcome details of your hourly rates, availability and whether you offer an initial free assessment or trial lesson this week. I would prefer individual lessons without a large upfront course commitment.
