Samantha
Nanny in Walton-on-Thames
My Summary
About Me
I am a caring, reliable and down-to-earth person and I genuinely enjoy spending time with children. I understand how important it is for parents to feel comfortable and confident in the person caring for their children, and I would always aim to build a positive and trusting relationship with both the children and their family.
I have a clean driving licence, regular First Aid training, with my most recent course completed in October 2025, and extensive safeguarding and child protection training.
Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, walking my dog, spending time on or by the River Thames with friends, and cooking and trying new recipes. I enjoy an active lifestyle and would be very happy to incorporate outdoor activities, walks and adventures into a child's day where appropriate.
My Experience
I am a Level 3 qualified Early Years Educator with over 10 years' experience working with children and families, and childcare has always been a really important part of my career.
I have experience caring for children from as young as two weeks old through to 10 years, with most of my experience being with babies, toddlers and under-fives. I have worked in nurseries, schools, children's centres, after-school clubs and family homes, as well as providing private nanny care for a number of families alongside my professional childcare roles.
My nannying experience has included weekday, weekend and overnight care. I have cared for newborns and young babies, followed children's routines, prepared meals, organised activities and outings, and helped with school and nursery drop-offs and collections. I have also worked with foster carers and understand the importance of being patient, consistent and adaptable to each child's individual needs.
Alongside childcare, I have always been happy to help with the practical side of family life. In previous family homes I have helped with light household duties such as tidying and organising, light cleaning and keeping children's areas and the home organised. I have also helped with gardening and keeping outdoor areas tidy when needed. I understand that having someone who can help keep things running smoothly can make a real difference to a busy family.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a Qualified Early Years Educator before progressing to Deputy Childcare Manager. These roles gave me a strong understanding of children's development, safeguarding and creating a safe, happy and stimulating environment. I particularly enjoy the early years and seeing children develop their confidence, independence and personalities.
Although my more recent roles have been in dental and veterinary practices, these positions have further developed my organisation, communication and sense of responsibility. I progressed from Veterinary Receptionist to Practice Manager and have also held a Lead Dental Receptionist position. These experiences have made me confident dealing with people, managing busy days and staying calm and organised when things don't go to plan.
