Hello, my name is Merin and I'm currently studying law at Northumbria University. I'm a friendly and caring individual who enjoys being around children. In my free time, I love to read and paint, and also listen to music. I am incredibly responsible and patient, and focused on creating a safe and positive environment for children. Because of my university schedule, I am fully focused on providing great care over the weekends.
My Experience
Whilst I do not have formal childcare experience, my background in community volunteering has given me a strong foundation in responsibility, safety, and care. Through my volunteer work at Newcastle Dog & Cat shelter, I am used to following strict safety procedures, staying highly organised, and working reliably under pressure. My time managing stock and handling customer service requirements reflects how I am someone who is practical, thoroughly trustworthy, and has good communication skills.
Furthermore, through my continued charity volunteering at places such as the British Heart Foundation and, I have developed excellent teamwork skills and the ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced environments.
Additionally, I hold a clean criminal record and am willing to undergo a DBS check.
My Qualifications
- Current education: First-Year LLB Law Student at Northumbria University.
- A-Levels: Biology, Psychology, and English Literature.
- GCSEs: 10 GCSEs grades 9–4, including English Literature (Grade 9) and English Language (Grade 8).
- Experienced in following strict procedures and maintaining safe environments through formal volunteer roles at the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter and British Heart Foundation.
- Other key skills: Highly disciplined and reliable, demonstrated by achieving a Brown Belt in Karate and competing in County-Level Badminton. Grade 3 in Piano.
My Availability
I am looking for weekend work and am available throughout Saturday and Sunday, including potential overnight care on Saturday nights. Because of my university schedule, my availability is currently only focused on weekends.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £11.00 per hour
My standard rate is £10 per hour for daytime weekend care. I am more than happy to help with bedtime routines and light meal preparation if required. For Saturday overnight care, I am open to discussing a fixed flat rate for the night rather than an hourly charge.
