My Summary
About Me
Happy Hands Childcare Ofsted Graded Outstanding April 2022 Registered Childminder based in Bluntisham, Huntingdon
With over 14 years of experience as a home-based childminder, I provide a warm, nurturing, and calm environment where children feel safe, valued, and truly at home. I believe that strong relationships are at the heart of early years care, and I take the time to really get to know each child—their interests, their personalities, and what makes them feel secure and happy.
My setting is a welcoming space where children can explore, play, and learn at their own pace. I gently incorporate elements of the Montessori ethos and the Curiosity Approach, encouraging independence, creativity, and a natural love of learning. Each day is thoughtfully planned around the children’s interests, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor play, hands-on activities, and meaningful experiences.
Our days are rich in experiences both within the setting and out in the local community. We regularly visit local baby and toddler groups, the library, parks, and enjoy gentle walks around the village, helping children become familiar with the world around them. We also make use of local amenities such as the church and shops, giving children meaningful, real-life experiences that support their confidence and understanding of their community. I am also fortunate to have access to a small woodland area which I use for forest school sessions, allowing children to explore nature, take appropriate risks, and develop a deep connection with the outdoors.
At home, children have access to a fully enclosed, secure garden and a dedicated playroom designed to support all areas of learning. The outdoor space is an important part of daily life in my setting, with opportunities for mud kitchen play, growing and caring for vegetables, water and sand play, and open-ended exploration. I am a strong advocate for free-flow play, where children can independently choose to move between indoor and outdoor environments, spending as much time outside as possible to support their wellbeing, curiosity, and development.
I also provide freshly prepared, home-cooked meals, ensuring children enjoy healthy, nutritious food as part of their daily routine. Supporting children’s wellbeing—both emotionally and physically—is at the centre of everything I do.
I understand how important it is to find the right person to care for your child, and I aim to offer not just childcare, but a home-from-home where both children and parents feel comfortable, supported, and confident.
If you would like to come and have a look around, I would love to meet you and your little
