About Me
I am a single parent of an 11 year old boy with Down’s Syndrome. He also has a hearing impairment and some mental health issues. He currently attends mainstream primary school but will be starting at a special school for secondary in September.
My Requirements
I am potentially looking for someone to sit with my son for an hour or two after school on one or two nights a week depending on my work commitments. I would definitely need after school care for Tuesdays and occasional Wednesdays. At present I am waiting to find out if he will get school transport, if he does I just need someone to sit with him at home until I am back from work. If he does not get transport I will need someone to pick him up from Ellesmere College and bring him home. Mileage will be paid if this is required.
Hours are likely to be 3.15 to 5.15pm. My son will need a snack, encouragement to use the toilet and generally entertaining.
If you are the right person to work with my son there is also the possibility of being approved to provide some of his social care hours. This would entail a DBS check with the council. At present he gets 4 hours a week. Some of these hours are covered by existing carers but there is flexibility to add more people to our bank of carers.
