About Me

Dee-Dee & Jack-Jack’s Childcare is a warm, welcoming and nurturing home-from-home setting run by Becci and Ailsa.

We believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, valued and supported. Our aim is to provide a fun, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to be themselves, explore their interests, build relationships and reach their full potential.

Outdoor Learning & Adventures

Outdoor learning is a big part of our setting. We have a dedicated outdoor space and our very own purpose-built garden cabin, giving children exciting opportunities to learn, play and explore in the fresh air.

We love getting outdoors, discovering nature, getting messy, gardening, exploring and taking part in hands-on activities. We believe outdoor experiences offer so many valuable learning opportunities, helping children develop confidence, curiosity, creativity, imagination, physical skills, coordination, problem-solving abilities and resilience.

We want children to enjoy their childhood, make memories and have plenty of exciting adventures along the way!

Communication, Inclusion & Additional Needs

Both of us are Makaton-trained and use Makaton every day within our setting. We naturally incorporate signs alongside spoken language during everyday routines, activities, songs and interactions. We believe communication is at the heart of everything and want every child to feel understood, included and able to express themselves.

We also have considerable experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We understand that every child is unique and develops in their own way. We pride ourselves on being patient, understanding and flexible, making adaptations where needed and working closely with families and other professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need.

Building Independence & Preparing for the Future

We believe that encouraging independence is one of the most important gifts we can give children. We support children to develop confidence and practical life skills through everyday experiences, giving them opportunities to make choices, try new things, solve problems, take responsibility and learn to do things for themselves.

We focus on supporting every aspect of a child’s development, including communication, physical development, social skills, emotional wellbeing, self-care and learning. Through play, exploration, encouragement and gentle guidance, we help children become confident, capable and independent little people.

Our aim is to give every child strong foundations for their next steps into school and beyond, helping them develop not just academically, but socially, emotionally and personally too.

Our Experience & Qualifications

Between us, we have an extensive range of childcare, early years and specialist qualifications, alongside valuable hands-on experience caring for and supporting children at different stages of their development.

We are passionate about continuing to learn, develop our practice and provide the best possible care and learning experiences for the children and families who join us.

Our Approach

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), recognising that children learn and develop at different rates and in different ways.

We plan meaningful, engaging experiences around children’s individual interests, needs and developmental stages, allowing them to learn through play, discovery and exploration. We celebrate every achievement, however big or small, and encourage children to have a go, build confidence and enjoy learning.

Above all, we want children to feel happy, secure, loved and excited to come through our door each day.

A Home-from-Home Environment

We aim to create a close-knit, family atmosphere where children feel they belong. We value building strong, trusting relationships with both children and their families, recognising that working together is key to giving children the very best start.

We want our setting to be a place where children can be themselves, feel supported, make friends, grow in confidence and enjoy every moment of being little.

My Experience

We have been childminders for 10 years, and we each have 17 years of experience working with children, giving us a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in childcare and child development.

Throughout our experience, we have worked with children of different ages, abilities and needs, including providing dedicated 1-to-1 support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We are both Makaton-trained and use signing daily to support communication and language development. We have a strong understanding of the EYFS and how children learn through play, exploration and everyday experiences.

Our experience has shaped our patient, nurturing and flexible approach, allowing us to recognise each child’s individual needs and provide the support and encouragement they need to thrive.

My Qualifications

Between us, we have an extensive range of childcare, early years and specialist qualifications, supported by 17 years of experience each working with children.

Good
2 October 2024
Children form strong, affectionate bonds with their childminder, who provides a well-planned curriculum tailored to their individual interests and needs. Praise is used effectively to support emotional well-being, and children benefit from plenty of outdoor play and sensory activities that build physical and early literacy skills. Support for children with additional needs is a particular strength, with excellent progress noted from their starting points. Parents speak highly of the care provided, describing it as going "above and beyond." However, during group activities, teaching sometimes covers too much at once, and children are not always given enough time to respond to questions, which limits opportunities to develop their communication skills further.
