About Me
I am a 34 year old living in Lyde Green, Bristol. I have 3 children myself - one with disabilities. I am a qualified children’s nurse and I work part time at Bristol children’s hospital - specifically on the neuroscience ward. I love animals and I have 3 crazy dogs! As a family, we travel as much as we can and are always planning the next adventure. We love planning days out, whether it be to farms, beauty spots, lakes, the beach or indoor activities.
My Experience
My eldest child (17) has special needs - a rare chromosomal disorder which displays as global development delay and learning disabilities. My youngest (9) has dyslexia. I have also worked with children with additional needs in both my current and previous jobs. Currently I am working in Bristol Children’s Hospital as a neuroscience nurse - I am competent in NG / PEG feeds, tracheostomy care and other nursing cares. Prior to this I was a nursing assistant working all over the hospital and I have also worked for lifetime (nursing children with life limiting illness in their own homes). This involved me working nights, as well as accompanying children to their SEN schools during the day. I have also completed a Triple P course to develop strategies for managing challenging behaviour in children who have additional needs.
I have experience with children from newborn - 18. I am happy to follow whatever parents would like - whether it be a set routine or a more laid back approach using my initiative. I am happy to take care of children in their own home, or take them out and plan activities / trips.
