?I am Gemma, mum to my lovely 8-year-old daughter, Melody-Jade. We are a close-knit household based in Kingswinford (DY6). As I don't drive, we love getting out and about together when we can, especially finding fun, inclusive environments where Melody can thrive.
?Melody has 22q11.11 Deletion Syndrome, autism, and a severe learning disability, but above all, she is absolutely ace—cheeky, pre-verbal, wonderfully energetic, and full of personality! Because she navigates social anxiety and sensory needs, life for us is all about creating a calm, safe, and supportive space where she feels completely understood.
?We are a warm, welcoming family looking to find a reliable 1:1 Personal Assistant who can become a familiar, trusted face in Melody’s life and a valued support to our family routine.
My Requirements
We are looking for a warm, reliable Personal Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for my cheeky, energetic 8-year-old daughter, Melody-Jade. She is pre-verbal, wonderfully sensory-seeking, and full of personality. However, she can experience social anxiety, particularly in new situations or around other children. Melody uses a wheelchair for longer distances and wears pads, so personal care support is required.
?The primary focus of this role is building a safe, trusting 1:1 connection with Melody. To help her feel comfortable, the job will begin with you accompanying us on outings and special needs groups. Once a solid bond is established, the role will transition to independent 1:1 trips.
?We are initially offering up to 4 hours per week, with pick-up located in Kingswinford (DY6). Applicants must hold (or be willing to undergo) an Enhanced DBS check and must be a driver with their own vehicle, as I do not drive.
