My Experience

I have 20 years experience working with children.

My first job after i qualified was at the Rocking Horse Nursery in Edinburgh. During my 3 years there i worked my way up from Care Assistant to Supervisor of the Tweenie Room. My duties included settling in any new children into the room and working with parents so i could get to know the child and their routine.
I planned educational and tactile activities for the children using the old 3-5 curriculum and observed the children so i could compleate their development profiles.

In 2005 i left the Rocking Hourse to work at St Margarets School Edinburgh
During my 5 years there i worked in both their baby and pre school departments.
In the baby room i settled the babies into the room and cared for their physical and emotional needs as well as working with the parents.
I also surveyed the room for any possible risks and makde sure all toys were safe and suitable for the babies.
In the pre school department i worked in both the morning and all day rooms.
I worked with the class teacher to plan curriculum activities using the old 3-5 document and the new Curriulum for Excellence.
I took regular observations of the children and filled them in their Learning Stories which the class teacher used to help write the children annual reports.Sadly in June 2010 St Margarets went into liqudation and sadly had to close.

After i was made redundant i went onto my first nanny job for a family with 3 chilldren aged 3,6 and 8 (at the time of employment)

My duties included getting the children ready for school in the morning and taking them to school and nursery.
I also did light house hold chores when the youngest child was at pre school nursery which included tidying the kitchen after breakfast, tidying the childrens bed rooms, putting clean washing away, hanging up any wet washing and putting on a wash if there was any of the children clothes that needed washed. I also cooked the children meals and organised play dates and craft activities.


Since I started nannying in 2010 I have nannied for 5 families all of which is included in my CV

This is just a brief outline of my experience but i have a up date CV which gives more details of my child care experience.
