About Me

Hi, my name is Maria and I live in Davenport with my husband and 3 lovely children. We have a good sized house with lots of space for little ones to play. We also have a large garden, which has artificial grass and a really fun play area so the children can enjoy the outdoors all year round. I take the children who I look after out everyday to toddler groups, parks and soft play areas and I also take them out on planned trips. We like to go on the train to Buxton or up to Hayfield for walks. I work alongside five other childminders and we share our knowledge and experience to do our planning. We use a software package called Baby's Days to load the children's daily diaries, photos, planning, observations, menus etc. You as a parent receive a username to your child's account so you can log on and see what they have done during their day.

I drop off and collect from Nevill road schools.

My Experience

This is my fourth year of being an ofsted registered childminder. I was training to be a midwife when I had my first child eleven years ago. I decided I wanted more children and delayed going back to midwifery. Instead I worked part time for Sure Start as a project manager working with families and other health care professionals. All my work at Sure Start was focussed around the EYFS (Early years foundation stage), so this provided me an excellent head start in childminding. I went on to have my two boys whilst still working for Sure Start and after 8 years there, I was made redundant. I had plenty of notice (12 months) of my redundancy so I made good use of the time and trained to be a childminder in my last year so that when I finished at sure start I was all set up as a childminder.

My Qualifications

Advanced GNVQ in health and social care
Numerous NVQs level 2 & 3 whilst I worked at sure start, including Webster Stratton positive parenting, healthy snacks, EYFS training, speakeasy, delivering learning, first aid,

Food hygiene
