Looking For A Kind & Reliable Nanny/Personal Assistant/Carer To Support Our 5 Year Old Son
About Me
Hi there, my name is Sian and thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile :)
We are looking for a kind, reliable and enthusiastic Nanny/Personal Assistant/Carer to support our wonderful 5-year-old son, and to become part of our family while our long-term carer is on maternity leave.
Our son is profoundly disabled and has complex medical needs. He relies on others for all aspects of his daily care, including personal care, communication, mobility and feeding. He is non-verbal and not yet able to walk or stand, but he communicates beautifully with those who take the time to get to know him. He has recently started crawling, which means he’s discovering the world (and a fair bit of mischief!) in his own way.
An important part of our son’s care is his gastrostomy (PEG) feeding, which can feel daunting at first but full training and support will be provided. Alongside the medical aspects, our son thrives on warmth, playfulness and affection — cuddles are an absolute must!
We are also a busy household, having recently welcomed a baby into our family in October 2025, so life can be lively and sometimes a little chaotic! We are looking to build the network of support around our son, and are looking for those who are comfortable in a family home, have a sense of humour, and see this as an opportunity to try something new or build experience in a deeply rewarding role.
What matters most to us is finding the right people — patient, playful, dependable and open to learning. You would be given plenty of time to get to know our son, his routines, and us as a family. Our carers become a true extension of our family, and we work hard to ensure anyone joining us feels valued, supported and at home here.
We are seeking a variety of hours to support us as a family and there is flexibility around how these hours are arranged. During term time, a key part of the role is being at home to receive our son from the school bus each weekday afternoon, with other care-related tasks completed beforehand (Monday–Friday, approx. 2-7pm). In addition, hours before school (such as 7-9am) would be especially helpful and could serve as a split shift alongside the after school hours. During school holidays, we would need longer days and increased hours (such as 8am-6pm).
All training will be provided. We ask that applicants are either self-employed or willing to become self-employed if this opportunity feels like the right fit.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We would be very happy to speak by phone with anyone interested to talk things through in more detail.
We look forward to hearing from you and finding someone special to join our family :)
