About Me
My name is Vikki Thomas and I am 39years old. Me and my husband Ashwyn work together as childminders and are both registered with the CIW and members of PACEY.
I have been a childminder since January 2006 and Ash has been registered since December 2010.
As childminders our aim is to provide a welcoming, safe and happy atmosphere for all the children we care for helping them to progress and learn.
We offer a wide range of activities for children of all ages to participate in to meet all their developmental needs, both structured and free play. We promote equal opportunities and respect the views of all families.
We believe children learn better through play and promote this at our setting. We have a large playroom designed especially to meet the needs of the children we care for with a wide range of resources and have a separate sleep room for quiet times.
We have a wonderful outdoor space for the children to play.
We also enjoy exploring the outdoors at every opportunity we get and also attend soft play areas with other local childminders.
My Experience
I have been a registered childminder for 16 years, offering full and part time care for many families. When I had my first child I found it really hard to be away from him so looked into childminding. I can honestly say it is the best thing I did! I get to spend time with my own children and give other children the one-to-one care and attention they deserve.
After Ash and I had our daughter he found it very hard to leave her everyday so decided to have a career change and went through the registration process. He is a natural with the children and they all adore him. We work great as a team and we feel the children benefit from this. We are also a lot more flexible as childminders as there is two of us.
My Qualifications
-ICP training course.
-I have completed a level 3 Diploma in Home Based Childcare units 1-5.
-I have compleeted my Level 5 in Leadership for Children's Care, Learning and Development, Advanced Practice.
- I have completed my Degree in Early Years Education and Care and received a First Class Honours.
-Completed a level 3 Playwork Qualification
- Level 3 Award in Education and Teaching (RQF)
-Elklan speech and language training
- Hold a paediatric first aid certificate.
-Makaton training.
-Completed the Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award.
-Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
-Disability awareness training.
-Child Protection Training.
-Designed To Smile training.
-I have also attended many training courses and network events within the local area and language and play workshops.
-Ash has completed the introduction to childminding practice (ICP) course he also holds a paediatric first aid certificate and food hygiene certificate.
-We are both DBS checked and we both hold full UK driving licence's and valid insurance relevant to our childminding business.
We are committed to progressing our knowledge as childcare providers.
We are winners of the Early Years and Play awards 2023 and 2024. Our awards include ‘Inclusive Practice’, ‘Nutrition’ and ‘Nurturing and Caring Environment’
My Availability
Our opening hours are 7:30am-5:00pm Monday-Thursday and 7:30am-4pm on Fridays.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
Fees depend on requirements.
A full day of Childcare includes breakfast, lunch & desert and tea. (Snacks, water and fresh milk included)
We also offer a home pick-up and drop off service to parents/carers that require it and school pick-up/drop offs too.

My little girl who is now 20 months has been looked after by Vikki and Ash since she was 9 months old, they have a beautiful home which always smells of scrummy home made cooking, they have a fantastic colourful inviting area where the children spend most of their day if they not out on walks to the park, visiting other child minders or a trip to play zone as a treat.
I can say with all honesty im so glad that vikki and ash were reccomended to me by another child minder who didnt have any spaces when I enquired. Vikki and ash give me daily log in a book with hows millie has been and what activities she has done and what she has eaten. They are even potty training her and she is doing really well. Lovely people fantastic child minders, I would definately recommend them to anyone looking for childcare. :)
