Part Time Nanny Job In Southampton
About Me
We are looking for a nanny for our two children, for before and after school Monday to Thursday
Alice is 8, she loves dancing, singing, clothes and jewellery, and asking really interesting questions. She is autistic with possible ADHD so she is very observant and is never still! A natural leader who is very determined and loves to do things herself, she is also kind and compassionate. She attends Moorlands school which is a 5-10 min walk away.
Elliott is 4 and is chatty, friendly and funny. He loves playgrounds, playing with cars and going out on his balance bike. He starts school at Moorlands this September
We live in Chartwell Green, near West End, in a quiet road with a little copse just around the corner which is great for walks, and lots of playgrounds nearby.
We aim for positive parenting and are looking for a Nanny with the same parenting ethos of gentle assertiveness, compassion and guidance with natural consequences (absolutely not confrontation, power struggles, time outs or any shaming), and somebody with a belief in listening to children, treating their input as important and working with them to resolve any conflicts. This is especially needed for Alice, who is very sensitive and can have big emotions, and needs lots of compassion and patience in those times, as well as having a strong need to understand the reasons behind decisions and rules - so we would like somebody who has experience working with school-age children, who knows how they tick and understands that they are little people struggling to handle big feelings.
I think we are a nice family to work for! We are honest, approachable, reasonable and straightforward - what you see is what you get, and we are not too precious about the state of the house. We try our best to be considerate employers - which is pretty much what we would expect from an employee too.
If you are interested or have any questions, please do contact me and tell me a bit about yourself.
Thank you for reading,
Jo
My Requirements
Monday to Thursday, before school from 7:30am, including school drop off - school is a 10-minute walk away
After school: pick up from school at 3:10 and bring children home, staying with them until whatever time the first parent gets home - this varies depending on time of year from 4:30 - 5:30 with occasional later evenings. You would not be required to cook dinner but after school snacks are often required.
Optional extras:
- The start time could be earlier if that is a possibility for you.
- There is an option of extra days during the school holidays if you are available.
- Babysitting optional
Other information:
- We would consider someone who wanted to bring their own child, and also nanny shares or self employed nannies - open to all!
- Not a requirement, but if you can do plaits and styles for long hair, Alice will be your biggest fan!
- We would like a non-smoker, please.
- As your employer, I would set up a contract and pay you a monthly salary in arrears including tax/NI. Salary is £11 per hour gross (negotiable).
