My Summary
Experienced, Nurturing Childminder Offering A Warm Home-From-Home Environment
About Me
Hello, my name is Sarah. I am an Ofsted-registered childminder offering high-quality childcare for children aged 0–4 years in a nurturing, loving and welcoming home-from-home environment.
Children in my care genuinely become part of our family. My aim is for parents to feel completely confident that their child is being loved, cared for and supported just as they would be at home.
I work in close partnership with parents and truly value your input. You know your child best, and by working together we can ensure your child’s individual needs are met and that they feel safe, secure and happy in my care.
Safeguarding and children’s welfare are at the heart of everything we do, and all adults involved in the setting are appropriately trained and vetted.
I live in a spacious detached home with my family. I work alongside my husband, who is my registered assistant and also provides wraparound care for Swanland Primary School and Building Bricks Pre-School.
We have a dedicated playroom where children can freely choose activities as well as take part in planned experiences. We also have a safe, fully enclosed garden with sand and water play, ride-on toys, balls, construction toys and opportunities to grow fruit and vegetables during the spring and summer months.
We are a family with dogs. Any interaction with pets is carefully managed, closely supervised, and dogs are never present during meals or in play areas while children are present. Children are never required to interact with pets.
Healthy eating is a key strength of my setting. I provide fresh, home-cooked meals using natural, non-processed ingredients, supported by recent nutrition training. Parents provide a healthy packed lunch for their child. Healthy snacks and an evening meal are available at an additional cost. Parents may provide their own snacks and evening meals if preferred; any food provided must be healthy, nutritious and non-processed.
Parents are asked to supply nappies, wipes, spare changes of clothes, and appropriate seasonal items such as coats, hats and gloves.
I share daily photos and updates via WhatsApp, something parents really value as it allows them to see their child happy, settled and enjoying their time here.
My Experience
I have over 21 years’ experience working with children from birth through to their teenage years, and I now specialise in caring for children aged 0–4 years.
Although registered to care for higher numbers, we intentionally keep group sizes small, typically caring for 4–5 children under five during the day. This allows us to provide calm, responsive, individualised care where children feel secure and supported.
A typical day includes free play, planned activities and regular outings such as parks, libraries, toddler groups and singing sessions. Singing, rhymes and stories are a key part of our daily routine, as early speech and language development plays a vital role in children’s communication skills, social interaction and overall development.
Children enjoy plenty of fresh air whenever possible, with visits to soft play and role-play centres more common during colder months.
Children sleep in travel cots or prams and are monitored at all times using baby monitors. Many parents comment on how quickly their children settle into routines here, particularly around sleep.
Screen time is limited and used thoughtfully. Occasionally, it may be used to support tired school-age children after the school run in a calm, relaxed way.
I follow the EYFS framework to support children’s learning and development, completing required two-year checks and supporting smooth transitions to pre-school. I have experience supporting children with additional needs and working alongside professionals such as Speech and Language and Portage services.
I support children to become confident and ready for their next stage, including moving on to pre-school, usually the year before starting full-time school.

We have used Sarah’s childcare for a number of years for wrap around childcare and childminding. I would highly recommend. Sarah is professional and caring and our daughter is very happy within the setting. Brilliant x

Thank you for such a lovely review. I’ve have really enjoyed caring for your daughter over the years and seeing her thrive and grow! 😊
My son has been going to Sarah’s for just under 2 months, it was a very quick change for my 3 year old son due to his old nursery setting closing quickly and Sarah could not have helped him settle in more, I really feel at ease whilst he is there, and always receive little updates and pictures throughout the day which is lovely, he always comes home happy and looks forward to going again. Sarah’s has gone above and beyond what I would have expected, and the home from home suits our son perfectly and wish we’d found Sarah when we put our son in a Nursery! 100% would recommend to friends.
