About Me
Welcome to Making Miles of Smiles Childminding
Hello, I’m Michelle.
I’m an experienced registered childminder based in Wallsend with over 20 years’ experience working with children and over 11 years as a childminder. I have a Degree in Childhood Studies, previously owned and managed my own nursery, and have been graded Good at every Ofsted inspection.
My aim is to provide a warm, home-from-home environment where children feel safe, happy and confident to learn through play.
What makes my setting special?
I follow the Curiosity Approach, encouraging children to explore, create and use their imagination through open-ended play. My playroom is filled with natural resources, wooden toys and invitations to play that inspire curiosity and independence.
Every week we enjoy a wide variety of activities including:
* Outdoor adventures at local parks and beaches.
* Visits to libraries, museums, toddler groups and soft play.
* Baking, arts and crafts, messy play and sensory experiences.
* Celebrating festivals and special occasions throughout the year.
* Learning through play in line with the EYFS.
During school holidays we enjoy trips further afield to explore new places and create exciting memories together.
Working in partnership with parents
I work closely with parents to ensure every child receives the very best care. Children under five have their learning and development recorded using BabysDays, allowing parents to view observations, photos, daily diaries, invoices and policies all in one place.
Current availability
I currently have Tuesday to Friday places available for September 26 including all funded childcare where eligible.

My Experience
I have over 20 years’ experience working with children and families in a variety of childcare and education settings.
Before becoming a childminder, I worked as a Teaching Assistant, a licensed child chaperone supporting children on television productions, and I also owned and managed my own day nursery. These roles have given me a wealth of knowledge and experience in supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
I have been a registered childminder for over 11 years and hold a Degree in Childhood Studies. Throughout my childminding career I have been graded Good at every Ofsted inspection and continue to keep my knowledge up to date through regular training and professional development.
I provide a warm, home-from-home environment where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to learn through play. I work closely with parents to support each child’s individual needs and development, following the EYFS for children under five and celebrating every milestone along the way.
