About Me
Hello!
Welcome to Mia’s childcare!
Early years space available Monday, Tuesday September 2026 onwards.
I have been childminding for 13 years. It all started when my own daughter was 5 years old and I fell in love with watching children discover the world through Play. Here at Mia's , we learn by doing; splashing in puddles, collecting pine cones, story time in the park, and lots of giggles along the way.
I am originally from Finland, and I bring a bit of Scandinavian magic to our days; Lots of fresh air, outdoor adventures, muddy boots, and cozy indoor cuddles. We explore our local community - parks, forest, the library and playgroups - and always come to a warm safe space to rest.
We are big nature lovers! Children learn about animals, caring for the outdoors and the changing seasons. We go on mini nature hunts, feed the birds and learn to be kind to all living things.
We are also joined by Oakley, our 6 year old whippet dog. He has grown up with children and has helped lots of little ones feel confident and calm around animals.
We are just a 10 minute walk from Jesse Gray Primary school, so I also offer pick ups and drop offs. Mixes ages work beautifully here, the older children help younger ones and everyone learns from each other.

My Experience
I thoroughly enjoy parenting our daughter who is now 18 y and enjoyed looking after children last 13 years! I have experience of looking after twins and I can also be flexible with families who do shift work.
My Qualifications
Ofsted Registered, graded GOOD by Ofsted May 2013 and October 2016 and 2022
Introduction to Childminding Practice (ICP) which included guidence for the Early Years Foundation Stage & other modules such as; Planning to Play, Promoting Positive Behaviour & Partnership with Parents etc
Introduction to Safeguarding children Certificate
Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Food hygiene Certificate
