About Me
Hi, I'm Jani Harkin-Figueira, I am an Ofsted registered childminder with a good rating as well as a member of PACEY Professional Association of Childcare in Early Years. I am based on Cambria Road, the same estate as Farmilo Primary School off Chesterfield Road North.
I offer warm homebased professional care in a welcoming, fun loving and caring home environment. I am a mother of a 16yr old boy and a 10yr old girl. We also have a Golden Retriever called Phineas who is very friendly and well trained.
I used a childminder before I changed career to become a childminder myself so I am very empathetic to parent's needs and worries. I offer warmth and care for your little one, I love kids and I have great fun doing my job.., we have a wonderful playroom just for the kids. I encourage learning through play and make full use of my Surestart childrens centre to help support my knowledge of EYFS. I work in partnership with my local Surestart Centre and Farmilo Nursery & PrimarySchool who have my details.
I do a school run to Farmilo Nursery & Primary School. I also can offer a 2, 3 & 4yr funded placements for those families who qualify subject to availability.
I am always happy to provide references which you can check yourself. The children I look after and their parents are happy to provide references also. I usually recommend you come and visit. I always encourage a play session for you to meet me.
Availability is best asked for at the time of contact as this is subject to change and is flexible.
My Experience
I am an Ofsted registered & qualified childminder with paediatric first aid and numerous child related courses under my belt.
I am a mother of one son now aged 16 and a 10yr old girl and a lovely temperament Golden Retriever dog.
I have speech delay experience with good outcomes. I have more vacancies during school holidays as I look after a few teachers children. My hours are flexible and so am I - I look forward to hearing from you

My son was in private nursery that closed down for financial reasons n my heart broke that I had to go through the worry of finding the perfect person to look after him during the holidays and after school. This decision was made harder as he was 4 and had just started school ( brand new environment) . As many others have said Jani was brought to my attention in the playground, everyone shouting her name, jumping on her, hugging her and Jani herself running round the playground after children with so much energy. My sons dad and I are separated but are both equally involved with anything to do with our son. We went to visit Jani at home and the moment we walked in we could sense from the other children and the atmosphere what a fun and happy, loving environment it is. My son went for a trial and didn't want to come home, he was so excited for the holidays and still gets excited now. I have picked my son up before and Jani has been as much covered in mud as the kids from their adventures hunting for bugs and enjoying the outdoors. What more could you ask for? An amazing lady.

As a parent you always want the best for your kids and im no different, trusting a 'stranger' to look after your child is one of the scariest things to do but after asking round my sons school there was only one name on everyone's lips. Jani! After only speaking for a few minutes i quickly understood why everyone raved about her.
after my sons first time with her i felt a little sad as my son didn't want me but wanted to stay and play with Jani and the other kids lol (this still hasn't changed every time)
well worth every penny and id happily pay more,

I have known Jani for a good few years now, as she lives on the same road as me and over the years we have become good friends. When I needed a childminder for my then 2yr old, there was no one else I would consider and it was such a relief that she had a space.
During his time with Jani I watched Ethan blossom from a shy quiet boy (in company) to happy and outgoing one around other children. His speech also came on in leaps and bounds and he loved his time with her so much that every afternoon he would come home exhausted!
I also knew that when Ethan was with Jani, her would also get lots of loves and cuddles and that if he was upset or hurt she would comfort him. She also kept me up to date with texts and picture messages throughout the day so I didn't feel I was missing out too much. She also asked me lots of questions about my parenting so Ethan would have consistency with eating, toileting, rewards and discipline.
Both my children adore Jani (and her own children) and when she walks into the playground at school all the children know her and shout her name.
I have also watched Jani, over the years, further her own personal development with training courses and by working with other childcare professionals to exchange good practice.
Working, myself, in a SureStart Children's Centre, I do know that Jani has a good reputation professional and many Childcare professionals I have spoken to about her have always said, 'Jani - she's an excellent childminder'!
I always recommend Jani whenever asks me about childminders and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone when asks. 10 out of 10.
