After-School Carer & Home Organiser — Bath (16–20 hrs/week)
About Me
We are a family of five living in Combe Down. We have a boy aged 12 and two girls aged 10 and 6 who are in school locally.
My Requirements
Hi, thanks for taking a look at our listing!
We're a busy family based in Bath with three children — aged 8, 12, and 14 — and we're looking for a warm, organised and proactive person to be the calm anchor of our home on weekday afternoons.
What the role looks like day to day:
Two of our children walk home from school (we're within easy walking distance), and the youngest needs to be collected at 5pm from the school bus. Your afternoons usually start around 3.30–4 pm. From there, the role is about keeping things running smoothly:
Helping with the children's laundry and keeping on top of their bedrooms before they get home
Welcoming the children home and being a warm, reliable presence
Helping with homework and keeping an eye on what each child needs to get done
Making dinner for the children each evening
Keeping track of who has what going on — sports fixtures, school trips, kit days, permission slips — so nothing gets missed
Making sure school bags are packed and ready for the next morning
It's less about formal childcare and more about being someone the children trust, who keeps the household ticking and spots what needs doing before we have to ask.
The days and hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Approximately 3.30/4 pm – 8/8.30pm
Around 16–20 hours per week during term time
We'd also love to find someone happy to pick up extra hours during school holidays and the occasional evening babysit when we're out.
Who we're looking for:
Someone who is genuinely fond of children and comfortable with the slightly chaotic energy of a household with three different ages and three different schedules (and a Cocker Spaniel). You'll need to be organised enough to keep on top of the logistics, confident enough to hold the fort independently, and warm enough that the children aare excited to come home to you. Previous experience working with children or in a similar household role is important to us, as is having a valid DBS check (or being happy to obtain one).
Why we think it's a great role:
The children are at lovely ages — independent enough to not need constant supervision, but still absolutely needing a caring adult around. You'll have real responsibility and the chance to genuinely make a difference to our family's week.
We look forward to hearing from you — please do introduce yourself and tell us a little about your experience.

All I can say is WOW. Siggy is an amazing nanny and we can not recommend her enough. We hired a house in Dorset for the weekend to celebrate a birthday and wanted someone to help with our 3yr old son and 8 month old daughters as our own nanny was unable to join us from London.
Having reviewed Siggy's profile and spoken with her we asked her to join us all day Saturday (12noon - 10pm) and again Sunday 8am - 1pm.
Iggy was amazing. Proactively thinking what our children needed, entertaining them with games both indoors and out. Siggy could not do enough to be helpful.
I'd hire Siggy tomorrow as out full time nanny if I could. We look forward to using her again.
