About Me
My name is Mikki Spooner, and I am an Ofsted-registered childminder based in Ashtead, Surrey.
I have been childminding since 2018 and have worked in the childcare profession for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience working with children in the Early Years across a variety of settings, developing a strong understanding of how young children learn and develop. My most recent Ofsted inspection, in October 2021, was graded Good.
I live in Ashtead with my husband and our three boys in a quiet residential area, close to local schools and just a short walk from the train station.
I am passionate about providing children with rich and meaningful experiences, particularly through outdoor play and exploration. We regularly enjoy walks on the common, visits to local parks, and feeding the ducks. I also hold memberships with the RHS Wisley and the National Trust, giving children wonderful opportunities to explore nature, discover new environments, and learn about the world around them. In addition, I attend local toddler groups, helping children build confidence, develop social skills, and form positive relationships with others.
At Little Spoons Childcare, I aim to provide a warm, caring, and stimulating home-from-home environment where every child feels safe, valued, and happy. I believe children learn best through play, secure relationships, and engaging experiences that spark their curiosity and support their individual development.
My Experience
I have 23 years of experience working with children, including the last 9 years as an Ofsted-registered childminder. Throughout my career, I have worked across a variety of childcare settings, with the majority of my experience being in the Early Years sector. This has given me a strong understanding of children's learning and development, and of how to support each child as an individual in reaching their full potential.

Regularly attend professional development courses and training to ensure my knowledge, skills, and practice remain up to date with current legislation, guidance, and best practice.
I am committed to continuous professional development and regularly undertake additional training to enhance the quality of care, learning, and experiences I provide for the children in my setting.
My Availability
I am available Monday to Thursday from 7:45am to 5:00pm, with the exception of Tuesdays, when I close at 2:45pm due to my university study commitments.
I offer term-time-only childcare, providing care during Surrey school term dates. This allows me to maintain a healthy work-life balance while continuing my professional development through higher education, ensuring I can provide the best possible outcomes for the children in my care.
My Fees
- Childminding from £9.50 per hour
Funded Childcare
I am registered to offer funded childcare places for eligible children.
Funded hours are provided in line with government funding guidelines. Any additional hours outside of a child's funded entitlement are charged at my standard rate of £9.50 per hour.

My son started with Mikki in January and goes to her 2 days a week. He gets very excited when I tell him he’s going to Mikki’s house for the day, we’ve never had any tears on drop off! Mikki’s house is lovely and clean, with lots of variety of toys. She always takes the children out which my son thoroughly enjoys. I love getting my daily pictures showing how much fun he’s having. I’m so happy with quickly my son has settled and and would definitely recommend Mikki.

Mikki is a very kind and nurturing childminder. She looks after our 3 year old son on Mondays and he always has such a fantastic time. They visit lots of playgroups which he really enjoys and has made some lovely friends.
I would highly recommend Mikki especially if you are looking for someone very caring.

Mikki is amazing, she has a very kind nature and has a real passion for what she does. Mikki provides a variety of fun activities, and sends regular updates / photos throughout the day.
We are very happy with the care Mikki provides our Daughter and would highly recommend.
