About Me
I have a keen interest in nutrition and health - I am a trained Pilates teacher and Personal Trainer, and work part time for the NHS as a Health Coach, and dietitian assistant. I enjoy keeping fit by going to the gym, sea swimming, and running. I have been a regular participant in parkrun over the last 6 years, and I also really enjoy volunteering there, as I find helping the community and motivating others towards a healthier lifestyle very rewarding. In 2019 I achieved my ‘25 times volunteering’ t-shirt and was awarded the Highly Commended Personality of the Year award at Notley parkrun. In 2018 I also raised £1000 for Epilepsy Research UK through my running, something very close to my heart after losing a family member to Epilepsy.
In my spare time I enjoy having coffee with friends, going to the theatre and card-making.
My Experience
I have worked with children in a variety of different settings over the past 8 years. I especially enjoy working with younger children, as I love their enthusiasm and excitement towards life! I have taught ballet and contemporary dance to children from the age of two up to teenagers, working at various dance schools, gym crèches, gymnastics clubs and at Pippa Pop-ins Montessori Nursery Schools in Fulham London. I have worked as bank staff for Small Friends day nursery in Leigh on Sea as a nursery assistant, and as a nanny for children aged 3-5.
I have been responsible for devising and running dance classes and workshops for children at gym/health club creches, dance schools in Essex and London, and gymnastics clubs. As a Creative Movement teacher for Pippa Pop-ins Montessori Nursery schools in Fulham, I collaborated with the nursery teachers, creating an introduction to dance and music. My classes encouraged coordination, balance, rhythm, hand-eye coordination, concentration and movement for children age 2-4. I would plan the classes in line with the seasonal curriculum, often using story telling as an inspiration. I have also worked as a children’s party princess character.
I quickly build relationships with children, and believe very much that early years stimulation sets the foundations for future learning and the full realisation of potential. I am conscientious, responsible and imaginative, DBS checked, and hold 12 hour paediatric first aid, Safeguarding & Protecting Children, and Level 2 ‘Introducing Caring for Children and Young People’ Certificates. I hold a UK driving license and have my own car.
