About Me

Hello, my name is Angela, and I am a registered childminder based in Morningside Wishaw. I have been a childminder for over 19 years, and I genuinely love what I do.
I believe childcare should be more than simply providing somewhere for your child to spend the day. I want children to feel safe, happy, valued and listened to, while having the freedom to explore, play, learn and develop at their own pace.
My setting offers a warm, welcoming and secure home-from-home environment, with a small adult-to-child ratio which allows me to give each child individual attention. I get to know every child as an individual, taking account of their personality, interests, abilities and needs.
I enjoy planning our days around the children's interests and giving them opportunities to make choices about what we do. We enjoy lots of play and learning experiences both in the home and outdoors, as well as getting out and about to local groups and attractions.
I also believe strongly in working in partnership with parents. You know your child best, so I value your wishes, ideas and feedback and aim to keep you involved in your child's care and development.
I am a Partner Provider with North Lanarkshire Council, providing funded Early Learning and Childcare for eligible children, and I am registered and regulated by the Care Inspectorate.
I am also a mum of two grown-up children, so I understand from both sides how important it is to find someone you can trust with your child. My own experience as a mum, together with my many years working in the care sector and as a childminder, has shaped the caring approach I have today.
We also have Daisy, our much-loved Yorkiepoo, who is part of our family and our home-from-home environment. ?
My aim is simple – to provide children with a happy childhood experience where they can have fun, make friends, build confidence, become independent and create lots of wonderful memories along the way.

My Experience

I have worked in the care sector for most of my working life, caring for people of different ages and with a wide range of needs and abilities.
My first job was working in a nursery in Carluke, where I began my experience of caring for and supporting young children. I then moved to Stanmore House, a specialist school providing education and support for children and young people with very complex needs. This gave me valuable experience in understanding and supporting children as individuals.
I then moved into care for older people, working at Monteith House Nursing Home in Carstairs. My training and experience across different areas of care helped me develop a strong understanding of the importance of patience, kindness, dignity and treating every person as an individual.
I continued working within the care sector, supporting people with additional support needs and disabilities. I found this work incredibly rewarding and knew that caring for people was something I was passionate about.
After getting married and having my own children, my priorities changed and I wanted a job that allowed me to spend more time with my family. I worked locally for several years before eventually returning to the care sector, working within the community.
As my own children grew older, I realised how much I missed having children around me. I wanted to use all the experience and skills I had gained and continue working in a profession where I could care for and support others.
In January 2008, I became a childminder.
More than 19 years later, I can honestly say becoming a childminder was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love that every day is different and that I can create new adventures and experiences for the children.
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching children grow and develop over the years. I have cared for children for many years, including one child who was with me for over 11 years. Being there to see them learn new skills, gain confidence, laugh, make friends and achieve their milestones is incredibly special.
Being trusted by families to care for their children is something I never take for granted.
After all these years, I still love coming to work every day and I wouldn't change what I do for the world.

My Fees

  • Childminding from £6.00 per hour

I aim to keep my fees clear and straightforward, with as much as possible included within the cost of your child's place.
What's Included?
Depending on the hours your child attends, fees include:
Breakfast if needed
Lunch
Two healthy snacks
I provide healthy and balanced meals and snacks, taking into account children's individual needs and parents' wishes.
Outings & Activities
We enjoy getting out and about regularly during term time, with a variety of activities and experiences throughout the week.
Our regular outings include:
Toddler groups
Childminding drop-in
Soft play
Bookbug
Local parks and outdoor play
The swing park is just outside my back door, so we can enjoy outdoor play regularly as part of our day.
I also provide plenty of opportunities for children to have free time to play, explore and have fun at home. This might include colouring, painting, creative activities, toys, games or simply following the children's own interests.
No Extra Cost for Outings
I cover the entrance fees for soft play, toddler groups and our regular outings, so there are no additional costs for parents when we attend these activities.
Our outings and activities are planned around the children attending on the day, taking into consideration their ages, interests, abilities and our required ratios.
Term-Time Childcare
From 2027, my service will be moving to Term-Time Only childcare.
I will no longer be providing childcare for school-age children during school holidays.
My aim is to provide a consistent and enjoyable childcare experience during term time, with plenty of opportunities for children to learn, play, socialise, explore and enjoy new experiences.
If you would like more information about my fees, funded hours, availability or Term-Time Only places, please get in touch.

My kids, ages 10 months and 3 years old have been going to angies for a few months now and adore going to visit her as they know they are going to have fun!
Angie loves her job and it shows in her interaction with the children, i LOVE how i can keep up to date on their day and see how much the kids are enjoying themselves through regular photos on facebook throughout the day! X

I would highly recommend Angie for childcare as she is so down to earth and a very approachable and caring person with a great professional manner. My daughter Macy was with Angie for 4 years from 1 year old where she received a whole range of activities and was kept busy and encouraged by Angie and her family in a very positive way. Macy also enjoyed her time with the other children that Angie looked after as well as her own kids who are fantastic. I could go to work knowing that Macy was in a loving, warm family environment. Macy learned so much in her 4 years including pre school development and celebrations around special dates (Easter, Christmas, Chinese New Year etc)

As we dont stay in the area and I travelled to Edinburgh we had to make the decision to send Macy to her local school whcih unfortunately wasnt in Angie's pick up area. We still visit regularly and keep in touch. I would highly recommend Angie to anyone looking for childcare.

Thanks debbie for the nice comments it's much appreciated

I think Macy just fitted right into our family from the start she was my first ful time child and I couldn't have picked a better child for that spot, Macy was my right hand and became the leader of the Angels, I could be doing something with another child and say were going to paint by the time I had finishined what I was doing Macy had the aprons on and heping to get started, I can still here her in my head "Angie says" she is a big miss to this house the kids miss her and all the family miss her, Les would steal her from you anytime just lift the phone and he'll be there. lol

I'd just like you to know all your family are very warm, special people and have become friends that are also missed by Myself and Les.

Thanks for being part of our life and will always be a friend Angela Xx

I would highly recommend Angie for childcare as soon as I met Angie I could sense how natural she is at caring and instantly my daughter Iona had a soft spot for Angie.I had no doubts that Iona would ever be bored at Angies, everyday the kids are kept busy by interacting with other children and learning and generally have fun!I was encouraged to see Iona had an excellent time with the other children and was wonderful not to feel guilty leaving Iona as I knew she was in good hands.Overall a lovely homely atmosphere for children to be in,I am very sad to say that as Iona has started nursery she is no longer at Angies,in saying that we cant pass the house without Iona asking for Angie or her husband Les in which it has to be said is also excellent with the children infact Iona had quite a soft spot for him, overall an absolute godsend!getting your children to leave may be another matter!
