My Summary
About Me
*Currently employed*
Hi! My name is Hayley Trunks. Firstly, thanks for taking the time to look at my profile! I suppose I'll just dive straight in! I am a very caring person with a strong sense of family, to me a family is the most precious gift life gives. I'm fortunate to be part of quite a large one and we are a close knit unit. I have two daughters born December 2013 and November 2017 and a son born October 2020, as well as fourteen nieces and nephews born between 1995 and 2024 so I have plenty of familial experience with children of all ages. I play an active role as an Auntie and am proud to consider my eldest niece among my best friends. I was only 12 when she was born but as my sister still lived at home, I played a large part in bringing her up and it was this involvement that sparked my passion for childcare. I love reading, elephants and spending time with loved ones. I play the recorder, trumpet and clarinet, though not all brilliantly, but I enjoy having a go. I have a recent interest in healthy eating and exercise and enjoy going for walks, especially in the snow. I pride myself in being loyal, trustworthy, hardworking and committed. I'm sensible but fun, I love laughing! I find being around children very rewarding and enjoy teaching them new things as well as learning from them. I believe in positive reinforcement and that a child should always feel valued and respected, but most of all, loved.
My Experience
The majority of my professional experience is in a school setting in the position of learning support assistant working mainly with children with special needs. These included Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, ADD/ADHD, Global Development Delay, fetal alcohol syndrome, dyslexia, hearing impairment, SEMH difficulties including trauma and attachment disorder, and many other additional learning needs. I have also nannied for four families, one that had a boy of 4 and a girl of 18 months, and one that had two boys aged 4 and 2, one with a little girl I cared for between the age of one and four years until the family relocated to the North of England, and one that had two girls aged 9 months and 2 years. I also have 5 years experience as a nursery practitioner at a setting that caters for children aged 0 to 14 years. I am confident around children of all ages, with or without special needs. My own children have a mixture of Autism, ADHD and sensory and anxiety issues so I am very empathetic with the lived experience of a SEND family.
My Qualifications
I have a BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies obtained in 2000, I have completed a Paediatric First Aid course on more than one occasion obtaining my current certificate in 2024, and have completed many supplementary courses through the school, local adult education facility and online providers such as NELFT including learning through play, behaviour management, understanding PDA, understanding ADD and ADHD, Supporting the Autistic Child and Speech and Language development. In addition to these I hold a level 2 safeguarding qualification with extra training covering FGM and Prevent duty and an allergy awareness certificate. Whilst at college I also completed IOSHH Health and Safety at work and basic food hygiene courses, though these have expired. I have held a full, clean driving license since 2004 and have a DBS on the update service. I am happy register with Ofsted should this be required.
My Availability
Hours are negotiable but I would need more than just before and after school hours. I am happy to negotiate the occasional weekend day or evening. Ideally I'm looking for two to three days a week, I would consider term time only as all three of mine are at school. Parents must be willing for me to have my own children with me at times, potentially before/after school or in the holidays, as my husband if office based three days per week. I would be willing to look into breakfast/after school club if required but would be unable to afford full day care for them in school holidays.
My Fees
- Nannying from £13.00 per hour (gross)
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
These are negotiable depending on duties required.
My Documents
- UK Driving Licence [DELETED] (added 29/10/2022)
