About Me
My Name is Karen, I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder (PACEY member) and also a Brownie Leader.
I am NNEB qualified and have over 25 years' experience working with children in different types of settings.
I have been graded GOOD by OFSTED since setting up as a Childminder in 2005.
I offer a fun and friendly childminding service for children from Birth to Secondary School. I have experience working with babies having two children of my own as well as working with a new-born and his mother who was suffering with post natal depression.
I live with my husband who is a baker and our daughter (Our son has just moved out due to finishing uni and now teaching in Plymouth but sometimes visits!).
We live in the Wymans Brook area of Cheltenham.
We have a conservatory / playroom with a wide range of resources that are changed regularly; my garden is enclosed and is suitable in all weathers so the children can have fresh air physical exercise and fun exploring and playing thanks to my lovely "pretend" grass!
I am a fun, loving, caring genuine person who loves working with children and their parents. My aim is to work together to help develop and encourage children to the best of their ability. I take great pride in my work as a childminder and have a quiet and considered manner. I like to be very organised so that the children get the best from the play and learning experiences I create with them. I am always sharing with parents via daily diary, photos, texts and of course the children's folders.
I provide healthy meals snacks and drinks that are included in my price.
I encourage feedback from the parents and children. I have signed Gloucestershire County Council’s Agreement to offer the free government entitlement for 2,3 & 4 year olds.
I provide a home from home childcare service for children who's parents have to go to work. My family is often referred to as their "childminding family" as they are welcomed and are made to feel part of the family.
I also offer school and nursery drop offs / picks to Gardners Lane Children Centre and School.
My Experience
I have worked with children since acheiving my NNEB diploma.
I have worked in a couple of nurseries, before / after school clubs as well as holiday club before becoming a Childminder in 2005.
I have looked after babies from a week old and have experience with all age ranges (up to 18years!)

My eldest son started with Karen when he was about 10 months old. I was returning to work and after having looked around some ‘conveyor belt’ style nurseries, decided that what my son really needed was a home away from home. Karen provided just that. She loved and cared for him along with other children of various ages and I always knew he was in safe hands. As well as all the wonderful arts and crafts he would bring home, she also taught him some valuable lessons, such as holding onto the side of the pushchair when he was old enough to walk on the school run. My son always loved going to Karen’s and if he ever had a teary goodbye moment of a morning, I’d receive a text within 5 minutes saying all was well, just the reassurance a parent needs before a day of work. I really couldn’t have asked for more from Karen and her family, they even took my son on a trip to Weston with plenty of photos to record the day! I was sorry when we moved out of the county after the birth of my second son and therefore had to leave Karen, if only I could’ve brought her with me! Keep doing what you’re doing Karen, you do an amazing job!

My two sons are being cared for by Karen and have been with her for over a year.
her abilities to look after children are of upmost excellence.
Karen is very hands on with my boys with lots of arts/crafts/cooking/playing and much more
My 8 and 3 year old boys always look forward to going to Karen's and even have trouble tearing them away from hers!!
My 3 yr old isn't as yet at nursery so he has started pre school work with Karen who has all the qualifications to do so and I am very impressed on how well herself and my son are going, with daily updates

Overall
Well. where to begin? My two children have been going to Karens for over a year now, they go for four nights a week whilst their Dad and myself are at work and THEY LOVE IT. Its not just them goimg to the `childminders`, they enjoy it and have so much fun. They are encouraged to take part in all activities, ranging in all age groups. During various times in the year, Easter, Christmas etc etc, they make all sorts of things and bring home lots of goodies for me and their Dad to enjoy (well mainly me because I get to all the cakes first) I have only good things to say about Karen, we all love her and the fantastic service she provides.
