About Me
Hello, I’m Alfonzina, known as Sophia to my families. I’m an Ofsted registered childminder in Bishop’s Stortford with over 24 years experience caring for babies and young children.
I offer a warm, nurturing home from home setting where children feel safe, happy and genuinely cared for. I keep my group carefully balanced so that every child receives plenty of individual attention, affection, encouragement and support throughout their day.
I’m very proud to be rated Good by Ofsted. My most recent inspection highlighted my nurturing childcare environment, the strong bonds children form with me, and the way I support children’s language development and independence.
Our days are varied and enjoyable, with plenty of opportunities for children to learn naturally through play. We enjoy outdoor play, local outings, stories and songs, creative activities, sensory experiences and lots of opportunities to talk, explore and discover.
I follow the EYFS and tailor experiences to each child’s individual age, interests and stage of development, while recognising that young children also need time simply to play, have fun and enjoy being little.
Building a trusting relationship with families is very important to me. I keep parents updated about their child’s day and work closely with them to help their child feel secure and settled.
I offer settling in sessions tailored to each child, helping them become familiar with me and my home at their own pace.
I accept funded childcare and Tax Free Childcare.

My Experience
I have over 24 years experience as a registered childminder, caring for children from around 3 months old through to school age, including experience caring for twins.
Over the years, I have supported many children through their early years, watching them grow in confidence and independence and helping them reach important developmental milestones.
I have extensive experience caring for babies and toddlers and understand the importance of providing consistent, loving care and a secure environment where young children can form strong attachments and thrive.
As a mum of two grown-up daughters, I also understand childcare from a parent’s perspective and how important it is to feel completely comfortable and confident in the person caring for your child.

• CACHE qualification in Childcare
• Paediatric First Aid trained

• Regular ongoing training and professional development
My Availability
Early-years childcare availability
I currently have a Tuesday & Thursday place available for a baby or young child from immediate effect.
From January 2027, I will also have a full-week place available, ideally for a baby/young toddler aged approximately 9–14 months.
I offer consistent, year-round childcare in a warm and nurturing home-from-home environment, with particular experience caring for babies and young children.
I accept eligible funded childcare and Tax-Free Childcare.

- Childminding from £8.90 per hour
My Fees
My standard full-day rate is £80 per day.
Funded childcare is available for eligible children, and I accept Tax-Free Childcare.
Fees and funded arrangements can vary depending on the days and hours required, so please feel free to contact me to discuss your individual childcare requirements.
