About Me
I am an experienced Newborn Care Specialist, (Maternity Nurse) with over 30 years in professional childcare. MNT trained, I have worked as a dedicated maternity nurse since 2012, supporting families through the newborn stage and early months.
Calm, nurturing and discreet, I offer practical, personalised support with feeding, settling and developing flexible, age-appropriate routines. My experience includes caring for premature babies and supporting families whose babies experience reflux. I also offer basic breastfeeding guidance, including positioning and attachment, and encourage specialist support where needed.
BABY FEEDING, SETTLING & SLEEP CONSULTATIONS
Alongside my maternity nurse bookings, I offer consultations and short, intensive stays for parents who would like focused support with their baby’s feeding, daily routine, settling or sleep.
I work alongside you in your own home, helping you understand your baby’s patterns, try suitable approaches and build confidence in continuing independently.
Support can include:
• Recognising feeding and tiredness cues
• Developing a flexible daily routine
• Finding settling approaches that suit your baby
• Navigating unsettled evenings and night waking
• Reviewing feeding and sleep patterns
• Helping you feel more confident in your baby’s care
Three- and five-day intensive packages are available, with overnight care and follow-up support by arrangement. Telephone and online consultations are also available.
My approach is responsive and guided by your baby’s individual needs, with realistic goals agreed together.
Based in East Sussex, I support families throughout the UK. Travel and accommodation arrangements for in-person bookings are discussed individually.

My Experience
Extensive newborn experience, including breastfeeding and bottle-feeding support, reflux and digestive issues, premature babies, settling and age-appropriate routines. I support parents in establishing balanced feeding and sleep patterns while responding to each baby’s individual needs. I also offer focused 3–5 day newborn consultations to establish or refine routines and provide practical, hands-on guidance, giving parents confidence to continue independently.

MNT – Maternity Practitioner Award, 2009
MNT – Sleep Training, 2009
MNT – Babycare for Nannies, 2009
Full Paediatric First Aid – Tigerlily Training, March 2026 (valid 3 years)
Enhanced DBS – current
Additional breastfeeding training with Geraldine Miskin, including the Miskin breastfeeding approach.
My Availability
I am currently available for short-term 3–5 day newborn consultations throughout the UK, offering focused, hands-on support with feeding, settling, sleep and establishing age-appropriate routines.
From late October to early December 2026, I will also have availability for longer Newborn Care Specialist placements.
I am happy to travel throughout the UK for suitable bookings. Please get in touch to discuss your dates and individual requirements.
My Fees
- Maternity Nursing from £30.00 per hour (gross)
My fees vary depending on the nature and length of the booking, hours required and location. Fees for 24-hour, rota and longer-term Maternity Nurse/Newborn Care Specialist placements are agreed individually. Short-term intensive newborn support and consultancy packages are also available. Maria stayed with us for 2 weeks to help my 7 week old into a routine. She was incredibly knowledgeable, professional and very kind. Not only did she got my little boy on the right path with his routine but she also taught me and my husband a great deal. I highly recommend her!

Maria spent a full day with me and my little daughter, Sophie when she was 6 weeks old. We needed help with extending her feeding time and create a routine that suits Sophie the best.
Maria was truly amazing with the baby. After one day with Maria we had a really good schedule for a day that we are working on ever since. Maria showed me techniques on how to put my daughter to bed and different ways of calming her down and also helped me with breastfeeding. We consistently stuck to the sleeping and feeding routine and now Sophie wakes up once/twice every night - compare to the 4-6 she did before - and extended her feeding to 3-3.5 hours.
Maria was brilliant and I would not hesitate to recommend her!

I was very anxious about employing a maternity nurse for my newborn daughter.
Maria was extremely caring, gentle and warm. I was completely comfortable leaving my 2 week old daughter in Maria's care overnight and slept without a worry!
She was so good with my daughter and definitely got her off to a great start and routine from an early stage. We had her for 6 weeks and soon after Maria finished with us, she was sleeping through the night.
I would not hesitate in recommending Maria.

My one week old daughter melted in Maria's arms when she first came to work with us in January. She has a wonderful way with babies, an enormous amount of experience from routine, soothing, feeding/weaning to the best baby products and above all she gave me some much needed confidence once back from hospital with my daughter. She is a lovely person and could not recommend her enough as a maternity nurse.

Our son was very calm and relaxed in Maria's arms. She is a lovely lady and knowledgeable nanny. Maria took care of our reflux baby through the night so we could get some much needed rest. I highly recommend her.
