My Experience

I have worked with children who were between the ages of 14 and 18 in a youth theater production which took place at the Rose Theater, Kingston.My role involved looking after the dancers and singers, ensuring they were safe and were given enough food and water before and during the production. Through this experience, I developed my communication skills and enjoyed being able to keep the children entertained and safe at the same time.
My experience has also developed since I became a nursery nurse 3 years ago. Over this time period, my experience involved working with children of various ages for 3-4 months. After this, my task was to look after specifically those of the ages 14 months-2 years old. A year later, I moved to the room where children of ages 2/3 were based. My 3 years of working with those of various ages has taught me how to work and take care of children who are of different ages.This experience was very useful as it gave me a realistic idea of what working with children is like.I have learnt hoe to deal with everyday problems and emergency situations. I have developed communication skills with parents and would let them know how their children are doing at the nursery. Consequently, my experience at the nursery in Tolworth has been a significant experience for me.
Finally, in addition my job at the nursery, I did my NVQ qualification over the 3 years. I went to Kingston college once a week and learnt about early years. For example, I researched and learnt about how to set up activities for the children which were good for their development. The skills I learnt would not only be useful for a nursery nurse but are also applicable for many other roles like nannying.Therefore, this qualification was a great experience for me and taught me a lot.
