About Me
We have now been childminding for over 10 years. We are a partnership (Lorna and Safia)
Safia is a grandmother, she has two children and five grandchildren.
She like's sports including golf.
Her interests include sewing, knitting, painting and arts and crafts, walking and gardening, not necessarily in that order!
Safia loves musicals and music of all kinds, including singing (I am informed I do this badly, but in my head the orchestra is playing and I sound great).
Lorna has three children of her own. Only the 16 year old stays at home now.
Lorna has a dog who is 6 months old. She is a malshipoo and loves the children. She enjoys being around the children. She does have somewhere to go if she is getting excited and needs some quiet time.
Lorna enjoys music, reading and walking,swimming.
Lorna runs the toddler group at Cairns church in Milngavie on a Friday Morning where the children enjoy going.
We take the children to toddler groups, parks, wooded walks, and meet up regularly with other childminders and nannies.
We take the children on planned outings to the beach, the zoo or to larger parks for example Loch Lomond, During the School Holidays.
We currently have a separate area for childminding which we have found a great asset to the business, as the children have their own space and they have all had input into the decoration and the layout of the rooms.
We are keen to allow the children to learn and grow at their own pace and allow them as much free play as possible.
My Experience
We have both worked with children for many years, from babies to teenagers. We enjoy looking after them by planning interesting and appropriate activities with the aim of helping them to develop into confident individuals.
My Qualifications
I am a registered nurse. I qualified in 1976, presently working part time as a nurse practitioner. In addition to my nursing qualifications, I have completed a number of child minding related courses including:
A) First Aid
B) Food handling
C) Child protection
D) GIRFEC (Getting it right for every child)
Lorna has completed:
A) First Aid
B) Food Handling
C) GIRFEC (Getting it right for every child)
D) introduction into child Psychology
E) Child protection
F) Adverse Childhood reactions
All these qualifications are kept up to date.
My Availability
Monday and Wednesday 8am till 5.30/6 Tuesday 8am till 2pm
Local School to us is Milngavie Primary.

My wee boy LOVES going to Lorna and Safia. They keep him very busy, whether it’s in the garden, at a toddler group, soft play or sledging when there’s snow. They go above and beyond for him and are always willing to help out if we need extra help. They are both very friendly and you can see how much the other kids love and respect them. Our boy started with them nearly 2 years ago and loves every minute. Couldn’t recommend them enough.
