My Experience
I currently work as a private maternity in homes caring for newborns and their family on a 24hr basis 5/6 days a week providing support and sharing my knowledge and skills to empower new parents. If booked for a 24 hr role I am able to provide parents with sleep opportunities by helping with night feeds to ensure new mums especially get the rest they need,I’m on call 20 hrs a day to answer any questions and to provide support where needed including but not limited to; offering tips teaching skills and techniques, assisting with breast feeding, bottle feeding or pumping, bathing, changing, sleeping, playing, keeping the nursery clean and tidy, baby laundry and attending appointments with you if required. As a maternity nurse I’m there to help build confidence and provide physical and emotional support when ever I’m needed leaving you feeling empowered, knowledgeable and hopefully less tired!
I also provide support as a night nanny. My approach is gentle and respectful helping parents get the rest they need in order for them to feel human again.
My previous role was as a postnatal practitioner on a postnatal ward at St Marys Hospital where I cared for new mothers and newborns. I specialises in neonatal care and have many years of experience in breastfeeding support, infant feeding, general baby cares including baby baths, reflux, nappy changing and soothing babies. I also completed a neonatal behavioural observation course which looks at the relationship between parents and their baby, helping to understand cues and encourage bonding experiences. I have also completed a 2 year foundation degree in Health and Social Care focussing on postnatal/maternity care, as well as a diploma in maternity and paediatric support. I have recently also completed a maternity nurse qualification and intend on completing a sleep course over the next few months.
In addition, I have 13 years of experience as a nursery nurse after gaining both my level 2 and level 3 NVQ's in childcare and education. I spent 6 years as 3rd in charge in a private day nursery in Hale and then 8 years as a nursery nurse in an excellent private nursery in Altrincham. This provided me with experience in all age groups and an extended knowledge of the new EYFS. Over the last 10 years I have continued to care for a number of children from the nursery in their own homes as a nanny/babysitter as well as providing support on holidays and at events. I hold recent an up to date CRB, as well as certificates in first aid, safeguarding, breastfeeding and neonatal conditions such as jaundice.
I am trustworthy, flexible, honest, loyal, organised, and practical with the ability to slip into any position confidently. I have great relationships with children and parents and excellent communication skills which i feel is very important when working in partnership with parents.
