About Us
Snapdragons is a pre-school for children within Northam, Westward Ho! Appledore, Bideford and surrounding areas. We are based in Northam, Devon, and have been operating for nearly 20 years. We are run by a voluntary Committee of parents and carers who are passionate about providing a safe, fun and stimulating environment in which children can learn.
Snapdragons is a small, intimate pre-school where each of the children is known individually within the sessions we offer. Our staff also have the ability and time to spend with the parents to talk about each child individually as they are greeted at the beginning of each session and again at the end.
We are able to offer such a high quality and caring service as we have, with five highly qualified staff members. This, the volunteers on our committee and our dedicated and friendly staff are what makes us so different.
We enhance and support the development and educational needs of children who are primarily under statutory school age by providing planned, structured and spontaneous activities in a warm and comfortable environment that allows children to move freely and safely between inside and outside play areas.
We are based within close proximity of St. Georges Infants School and St. Margaret's Junior School and are open to children from 2 years until they join Reception.
Our opening times are:
Morning sessions: 9.00 am – 12.00 noon
Afternoon sessions: 12.00 pm – 3.00pm

Our Fees
- Childcare from £20.00 per morning
- Childcare from £20.00 per afternoon
- Childcare from £40.00 per day
- Childcare from £189.00 per week
- Childcare from £600.00 per month
From the term following your child’s 3rd Birthday they will be entitled to 15 hours of funding per week. For example: 5 x 3 hour sessions. These can be taken as a morning and an afternoon session if required, providing care for your child from 9am – 3.00pm.
Sessions for children aged 2 to 3 years who are not currently grant funded are charged at £5.50 per session and will be billed in advance at the beginning of each term.
