About Me
My name is Laura, I live in Eastbourne with my partner and my 2 daughters ages 2 and 6.
I'm 30 and I have worked in childcare and education right from work experience in school till present. I have always known I wanted to work with children, its my passion and I find it extremely rewarding.
I am a very nurturing and naturally motherly kind of person and I pride myself on my ability to build strong relationships with children.
I love doing all sorts of activities with my little girls in our spare time especially anything creative. I love taking children outdoors and watching them explore nature as I love providing hueristic opportunities for learning and enjoy using a child led approach. I am very creative and love art. I find I am often commended for my calm nature and patient temperament when it comes to caring for children.
My Experience
I have worked as a classroom T.A and I.N.A in schools and nursery's supporting children and helping them to access mainstream education. I have extensive experience and knowledge of SEN care and strongly believe that every child is an individual and should be cared for in a way that is specific to their needs and character. I have also used my knowledge gained from obtaining my NVQ in Playwork to work in after-school clubs and holiday playschemes to create fun and stimulating activities and opportunities for children where they can explore and learn through play.
I have travelled and have previously lived in Uganda, Africa for 10 months where I volunteered in a baby orphanage and had to provide very hands on care to babies as young as 2 weeks old and sometimes very sick babies. That experience gave me a huge insight to the world, endless life skills and the ability to learn how to care for a child no matter what, always putting their needs first.
My Qualifications
I have 9 GCSE'S C and above including Child Development GCSE, a Double Award Health and Social Care A level and an NVQ in Play work. I have various SEN training and have attended workshops for manual handling, child protection, makaton (sign language) PECs (communication system) P.R.I.C.E training (physical intervention), dyslexia, behavior managment and hoist training. I hold a speech and language training certificate and have a current paediatric first aid qualification. I have an extended DSB (CRB) check at my current place of work.
My Availability
Any hours starting from 10.a.m till 2pm Mon, Tues, wed and Friday and am available all day Thursdays. I am flexible and open to some occasional evening/overnight and weekend care.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £6.00 per hour
- Nannying from £8.00 per hour (gross)
£6-£9 an hour
