I am available Monday-Wednesday daytime and all evenings.
I have worked with young people in a number of settings and roles.
I understand how important it is for a child to have an influential role model and the positive impact this can have in helping them grow. I am especially keen on promoting and encouraging creative and imaginative play.
My parents have been foster carers for 13 years and I am able to provide respite care. This means I have dealt with children from a range of different ages and backgrounds with varying emotional needs. Therefore I am able to be empathetic to young people and can divert potential issues quickly and positively using therapeutic strategies.
I currently work as a manager at a fairy themed cafe and children’s party venue 4 days a week. I enjoying embracing my inner child, all things Disney and magical, being creative and a little bit silly, however I am also able to be empathetic, calming and authoritative when I need to be.
I enjoy theatre and the arts and have been a member of a local theatre company for 13 years. I also enjoy journaling, reading and spending time with loved ones.
My Experience
In the past I have built up experience in supervising young people in a performance based setting. This has included running drama classes for young children, as well as assistant directing a key stage three drama club. I also spend a lot of time working with children in my current job, as a manager at a children’s party venue.
I worked in a nursery for 2 years. My work at the nursery involved changing nappies/assisting with toileting, preparing snack following all health and safety guidelines, setting up fun and imaginative areas of play that stimulate learning, supervising outside play, making sure the children are engaging in a variety of activities that cover all areas of EYFS and providing a caring and loving environment.
I also spent a large chunk of time at nursery working in the baby room with babies aged 6 months to 2 years old.
I am registered as a respite foster carer with Hampshire County Council. This means I am able to provide child care to looked after children, to allow their own carers some much needed time off. This includes overnight care and can be for any length of time. In this past this has involves general everyday care for the children, taking them to all after school clubs and classes, overnight care and general safeguarding and protection.
Due to the nature of fostering, I am always understanding of the fact there may be reasons for certain behaviours and I am able to deal with this using therapeutic strategies.
