About Us

The Barn Nursery School provides high-quality care and education for children aged 2 years 6 months to 5 years during school term time.
The provision for children’s development is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Our rich and varied environment supports children's learning and development through well-planned, purposeful activities and experiences. Children move freely between three spacious rooms that are organised into areas of learning. The rooms lead out to a well-equipped play and discovery area that is used every day, in all weathers.
All children can enjoy an extensive range of toys and creative resources as well as having their own book bags, access to The Barn library books and weekly homelink activities to do with their parents. Our special Barn Activities include Activate, dance and movement, Write Dance, gross motor skills, forest activities, science investigations, cooking and French and German language experiences.

Children benefit from a nurturing atmosphere and tailored support at this early years setting. The nursery provides a warm welcome and focuses on individual needs, particularly excelling in support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Early reading is strongly promoted, with a wide selection of books available. While indoor provision is stimulating, the outdoor area could be improved to offer more physical challenges. Staff are encouraged to adapt their approach more precisely to children's learning styles to further enhance the educational experience.
