About Me
I live with my husband and grandson in a detached bungalow in Upton, Poole, very close to my daughter and grandchildren. I have a Level 3 Diploma Qualification in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People), First Aid trained (2023), driver with full, clean driving licence and own reliable transport. We have 8 grown up children between us and 15 grandchildren. I enjoy days out with my family, cooking and entering competitions. I also have a recent enhanced DBS which is registered on the update service.
My Experience
I have worked for several years in residential homes with children in care. Most have challenging behaviours, ADHD, aspergers, learning disabilities and mental health problems. Whilst my own children were younger I was a registered childminder for Dorset County Council and also a registered foster parent. This involved looking after children at short notice ranging from newborn to 12 years old and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My children used to look upon our foster children as an 'extended family'. I found it extremely rewarding and worthwhile.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified youth worker and have a valid first aid at work certificate (dated 2023). I have many years experience of working with babies and children of all ages as well as having my own children and grandchildren. You need to be a parent to understand the needs of children as they are all different! I have also done several courses relating to children which include:
