Hello, my name is Amber and I have been a registered childminder since May 2000. I am registered with CSSIW. I have childminded in St Athan and Llantwit Major. Before this I worked in a day nursery for 7 years caring for babies from 6 weeks to 5 years. I became a childminder when we had our third child Chloe, which was a lovely surprise. We have a 3 bedroom detached house with a garden, which children of all ages love to play in. I have a good variety of garden play equipment. I love caring for chilldren of all ages, watching and helping them grow and develop at their own speed, in a relaxed and happy atmosphere. I married in 1981 just after completing my NNEB (nursery nurse course) and have one child still living at home, my two older boys live away from home with their wives and children. Our family is completed by our lovely cat Zante. Any children who come to my home afraid of animals, always leave loving them.
I have a 7 seater car, with various stages of car seats for outings and the occasional school run if necessary.
I offer a settling -in experience for a couple of hours a week, for a few weeks before starting the contracted hours, (if needed) so the child can get to know me and me them, which most parents and children appreciate. I strive to give your child a happy, fullfilling experience and their welfare is my utmost priority. I am an honest, trustworthy, reliable and flexible person. We go out daily to participte in various activities, including soft play, the park, the library and other childminders houses. During school holidays we go further afield, by train sometimes, which we all enjoy, to play centres including once upon a playtime, zone and parc. At home I offer a wide variety of toys and equipment suitable for all ages and stages of development, including cutting and sticking, painting, puzzles, books, cars etc.etc.
I have an NNEB qualification (nursery nursing)
Level 3 in childminding practice
First aid for babies and children
Child protection course
My husband, daughter and I have CRB's
These are all renewed and updated as necessary
I am avaliable to childmind from 6.45 am until 6pm monday to friday. We will eat our meals together at the table or out on a picnic, obviously weather permitting, where good manners, please, thank you, sorry, may I leave the table, are used, at all times where approriate. Babies routine of feeding and sleeping will be baby led according to parents wishes. When required I would be happy to work the odd weekend if necessary.

Being a new mum I was very anxious about taking my son to a childminder. I had an instant connection with Amber and so did my son! He enjoyed every minute of his time with her and that made me feel so much better about leaving him to go back to work.
Amber has a lovely kind nature and children just seem to warm to her . We are gutted to be moving away from the area, but would definitively recommend Amber to anybody in the local area to Llantwit.
My son has a huge grin on his face when he gets to the gate and he’s smiling when I collect him. I could not of asked for a better experience . Thank you Amber for everything !!
When my first child was small, I registered and worked as a childminder in Hereford for 3 years and then moved to South Wales to work at a University. When my son came along, I was certain that I wanted him to go to a childminder rather than a nursery. I knew it would be really tough leaving him with anyone having looked after my daughter until she started school. I already knew an incredible local childminder who I completely trusted, but was devastated to find that she only had space one day a week. She recommended Amber for the other 2 days, and assured me that she would have happily left her own children with Amber.
I'm notoriously picky, but when I met Amber I knew that our childcare search was over, and that she was 'the one'! I cancelled all of the other childminders that I had booked in to meet and signed up with her immediately. This was a brilliant decision, and my husband and I (and our son) couldn't have been happier with her. We only stopped using Amber because my husband's working pattern changed, so he was able to look after our son at home on 'Amber days'.
Amber is cuddly, hilariously funny and genuinely loves children. She has an amazing bond with my son. When he was a baby he was always happy to arrive at her house. I remember him humming tunes when he was very small that I had never sung to him, and realised that Amber must have been singing to him regularly. When he started speaking he sometimes used phrases that I could tell he had picked up from Amber (I could tell this becuse he said them with a slightly Bristolian accent!) - these phrases were all lovely positive, things like "wow - that's brilliant!" and "amazing!"
Amber is incredibly professional. Her house is immaculate and she is very well organised on her policies/procedures/contracts/billing. She plans bespoke activities to suit the children in her care and she takes them out every single day. She is part of a circle of exceptional childminders that live in Llantwit Major and they all meet up regularly and plan educational activities together for all of the children, such as sand and water tables in the garden, or picnics at the park. This has meant that my little boy developed friendships with a wide range of children. Typical activities were trips on the train to Bridgend and then a play at Once Upon a Playtime or picnics in the park.
I cannot recommend Amber enough - she ticks all the boxes and we miss her already!
Amber has looked after my daughter three days a week before and after school this year. It's been an absolute pleasure to deal with Amber, she's a very friendly and approachable person and I would highly recommend hey to anyone. My daughter loves playing with her and I've been incredibly impressed with how hands-on Amber is with all the kids. You can tell she genuinely loves children and enjoys spending time with them, and to me that is by far the most important thing about a childminder. She's also organised with all her paperwork and her house is always immaculately clean which are both also important. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about Amber because she's been an absolute gem.
Amber looks after my daughter every week and my sons in school holidays. I always feel very confident when the children are with Amber, she ensures they are safe but have lots of fun too. My children really enjoy the activities she provides and especially love time with Bella the dog. I would thoroughly recommend Amber to other parents.
My daughter has been going to Ambers for the past 5 years, on a daily basis. She arrives at 6.45 am and has breakfast with her. She is reliable and my daughter enjoys going there. She loves Ambers pets, although she was very aprensive when first going there. I thoroughly recommend Amber if you are looking for a childminder.
