About Me
My name is Maria Federico and I am married with two children Ella (23) and Christian (21). We have a beautiful 14yr old cavalier King Charles called Toby.
I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder in Farnborough, Hampshire with 7 years of experience, having started in 2017. I also have Ofsted approved Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid training, as well as a Food Safety certificate.
In January 2022 my husband Louis left the rat race and joined me as my assistant. He is also registered with Ofsted and has Safeguarding training as well as Paediatric First Aid. The children love him, and our existing parents appreciate having him in the setting as it enhances the family feel of being here.
We enjoy taking the children on outings such as the library, toddler groups, woodland, parks, playgrounds, petting farms, doing arts and crafts and also music groups.
We have a safe garden where the children have the opportunity to enjoy some outdoor activities (especially in the summer). We also attend a community garden which is very local to us where the children learn about nature and how to grow fruit and vegetables.
My Experience
Previously I worked in customer services, education and more recently the NHS. I have experience of working in a school as a Learning Support Assistant and Lunchtime supervisor, which I enjoyed thoroughly, as well as looking after children for family and friends.
I carried out the Childminding Introduction including Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid. I have all relevant certificates.

Not sure where to start.
Sending our then 13m old daughter to a childminder took us both as first time parents a lot of research and talks and feedback from friends and family.
We started with visits to few homes but could not make up our minds. Had so much to consider in terms of location, hygeine, environment, people, education focus etc . But the moment we stepped into this setting I knew this was it.
Our daughter spent 9hrs everyday for 4days a week and she is 20m now and sadly we are moving out of the area. Through this review we would like to highly recommend Maria and Louis to any parent/guardian looking for a best childminder. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the care Maria and Louis have provided. Very organised and committed towards their duty of care. Our daughter has had her share of melt downs and tantrums but Maria and Louis have been very patient and professional.
One of the things I appreciate most from them is the level of communication and is always on hand to make recommendations and be an ear if needed, but Maria reinforces any new behaviours we are trying to support at home and vise versa. This has been especially important when it comes to a routine.
My daughter has enjoyed her time making friends, learning through activities and dayout at parks, play groups, farm etc.

As a first time mum I was so apprehensive putting our little one into some form of childcare but finding Maria really put me at ease. Our little girl loves going to Maria’s and we love sending her. It’s a safe, loving and nurturing setting. Maria has even helped me when I’ve been stuck with a certain phase and gives that home away from home feel which has really helped my daughter gain so much confidence in all areas.

Our little one started with Maria when he was only 5.5 months old. From the very beginning, Maria and her family have been incredibly loving and caring. They provide a safe, calm, and very clean environment for the children. It’s a warm family setting that offers a great example of family life, while also providing education and fun at the same time.
Now at 2 years old, our little one still enjoys going to Maria’s and loves spending time with his friends there. He is an extremely fussy eater, but somehow Maria always manages to encourage him to eat almost every meal.
We receive daily updates and photos a few times each week, showing the activities the children are doing. Communication is always excellent and very quick.
I would highly recommend Maria to anyone.

Maria and Louis are wonderful! They are kind, trustworthy and a lovely influence to have around any babies or young children. They provide a lovely setting for the children in their care and the environment is calm, but fun, with plenty of space for the little ones to play. I would recommend them to any parent looking for a reliable childminder in the area.

Back in 2020 we found ourselves as first time parents not only with the daunting task of finding childcare for our eldest daughter but also navigating the unchartered world of a pandemic! Through all of this we found Maria who has been nothing but amazing ever since!
As one of the first “lockdown babies” our eldest daughter had gone from being very social and confident to being very shy and clingy but with the support from Maria she soon overcame her shyness and grew to love the whole Federico family as they welcomed her as one of their own. Throughout her time with them she grew in confidence and when the time came for her to leave Marias and start school, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. She still says she wishes she could be going to Marias and insists on coming along to pick up her little sister so she can see the family and tell them all about her day.
When our second daughter was born there was no other childminder we even thought of sending her too. Her start with Maria and Louis in 2023 was very different from her sisters, she did not settle at all well initially due to her having severe separation anxiety. However, with extra time and patience and all of us working together we eventually managed to help her overcome this and she now loves her time with Maria and family as much as her sister had before her.
We would highly recommend Maria and Louis to anyone who is looking for a fabulous family to look after their children in a home from home setting which nurtures and encourages them and helps prepare them for their next steps in life.
