About Me
I am an experienced teacher, early years practitioner and nanny, who has lived and worked (most recently as a teacher and drama club owner/leader) on the Island for four years. I currently teach term times but I am available weekends and during school holidays. Prior to this, I was a preschool teacher/early years practitioner for five years and a nanny for three years before that. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, tutoring & playwork and am keen to share my love of learning, as well as indoor & outdoor, child-led play.

In my spare time, I love to sing - I am looking to join a choir if you know of one! I also love swimming, being outdoors in nature and most especially spending time with my pet dog, Beau. I enjoy reading for pleasure and love reading stories and poems to children, often using silly voices to engage them!
My Experience
I have worked with children of many different ages during my time as a teacher and as a nanny. Most recently, I have taught primary school-aged children (aged eight to eleven) and run a drama club (for children aged four to eleven). I have over fifteen years of experience as a teacher, practitioner and nanny of working with children from the age of 18 months up to the age of five (with a particular focus on preschool [aged three to five years old]) as well as teaching and tutoring children up to the age of eleven. I feel I have a very good understanding of children’s needs, and what is required to help children flourish, at the same time as being able to encourage manners, courteousness and an ability to follow rules.

After doing a trial session with Ally, we hired her for the first time a few weeks ago. Ally comes across as very experienced with toddlers as she also consults with nurseries. My toddler is currently really unsure about strangers so it was great that she felt comfortable enough to be around Ally for an extended period of time. Overall, glad that Ally is our babysitter and we will use her from now on.

After lots of boring days off school with medical probs my 11 yo daughter was thoroughly well looked after and totally entertained by Ally. She takes everything in her stride and allowed me to leave home knowing my daughter was in very capable hands. Resourceful and totally tuned into the topics and activities that my daughter loves. She kept me updated and easy to deal with. So happy we’ve found her 5 mins from our house !
