PERSONAL PROFILE RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Teaching and supporting learners interests me as I believe that in every teacher’s and teaching assistants hands there is an enormous potential, ability and opportunity to influence their children by transferring knowledge and the confidence to apply it in order to secure brighter futures. As Albert Einstein said “Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid”. I believe in diversity and I understand that every learner is unique. It is vital that educators and support staff recognise this, believe in each learner’s potential, embrace their aspirations and help them to overcome their barriers to learning. It is important to realise that there is no such thing as a problem child, just a child that has an obstacle to overcome, and we need to be willing to go the extra mile and assist every learner to overcome these obstacles. My greatest teaching and learner support strength is my ability to understand each student's unique requirements and assisting them to achieve as much as they can.
I firmly believe that fairness in education does not mean sameness, each learner is a unique individual with unique learning abilities and methods. As a teacher, I feel it's my responsibility to embrace the individuality of each learner in order to allow each learner to grow and reach his/her full potential.
Having studied a B Ed Hons Learning Support/SEN degree as well as my many years of experience within the field, I am confident I have many skills which would prove valuable.

These include:
• Intimate care while understanding and respecting the dignity and independence of each child
• Creating and supporting IBPs and IEPs based on the individual requirements and best interest of each child
• Experience of working not only as a Teaching assistant but also as a Teacher • Using PECs and Makaton as effective communication
• knowledge of various learning challenges and how best to support them in both personal and academic skills
• Training in First aid, PRICE and Autism Attention strategies such as Bucket Time

-Lead sessions when teacher was not available
- Organised and planned lessons by using PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel and other various media to support learning
- Supported challenging behaviour through individual behaviour plans which was created for each child's unique needs
