About Me

Hi, I am Emma.

I am an experienced nanny and Primary school teacher. After working abroad and in London, I recently moved back to Devon to be closer to my family. I have five nieces and nephews (and one on the way!) who I spend lots of time with. I love being outside and have recently bought a house with a wild and overgrown garden which is proving to be an exciting project. I am an active person and I like to run and practise yoga. I spend lots time on Dartmoor camping and hiking and head to the coast whenever I can - I swim in the sea and River Dart all year. I have recently started an evening drawing course. I come from a big family and we enjoy cooking together and always get the littles ones involved too. I love animals, particularly horses and dogs. My parents have a beautiful, friendly collie called Pip (see picture!) who often joins me on adventures and I am lucky enough to borrow a friend's horse, ZIggy, when I fancy a ride.

My experience of nannying combined with working as a Primary school teacher has enabled me to understand different family requirements and individual children's personalities and needs. I have a consistent and calm approach which allows me to build positive relationships with the children in my care and I like to create a fun and warm environment with plenty of space for creativity, adventures, and lots of silliness and laughter. I look forward to hearing from you and your family.

My Experience

I worked as a nanny for 8 years before deciding to train to be a Primary school teacher. During my time nannying I worked with a variety of little people and have experience with newborns, babies, twins, Special Needs, toddlers, school age children and teenagers. I spent 4 years teaching in a Primary school in London. I love working with children of all ages but have a particular passion for babies and Early Years. I have always enjoyed helping to settle children into school and working closely with parents and families to make sure their first experience of school is a positive and fun experience. I am currently doing my forest school leader training. I believe children should spend as much time outside as possible and I enjoy planning fun adventures and activities outdoors.

I am looking for a part time position to enable me to complete my forest school training. I am flexible in terms of days / times.
