About Me
A busy working tv drama director (and single mum) with one lovely 11 year old daughter. We live in Tufnell Park nearby Kentish Town. My work often demands long hours - working in London, sometimes regionally in the UK and occasionally abroad to Europe / US.
You will find me a very organised and mindful employer who likes routine, a holistic approach to parenting as well as keeping a calm and tidy home space. I appreciate positivity, creativity, sensitivity, organisation, sense of initiative and good clear communication skills.
About my child: 11 years old, a very intelligent, creative girl with a sunny and inquisitive disposition. She enjoys creative crafts, the arts, academics, sport, yoga and the outdoors. She adores reading. She also loves everything about food and cooking. She eats a healthy balanced vegetarian / pescatarian diet of whole foods free of processed sugar 85% of the time.
She has a limited daily TV screen time and a brick phone. We’ve decided no social media until she’s 16.
Her dad and I amicably divorced when she was a baby, and she usually sees him once a week and every other weekend (but as he’s an actor he can often away be away). He lives in Turnpike Lane.
My daughter is in Y7 at a local state secondary girls school.
My Requirements
SPRING START - May / June 2026
Experienced Live Out Part-Time / Full-Time Nanny* with flexibility to work less hours (*but always guaranteed monthly retainer salary). This role would likely suit someone working on their own studies (MA/Creative artists/PHD), semi-retired, working or studying part time.
You will be mindful, positive, empathetic, punctual and can take your own initiative in care, creative educational activities, able to cook and also supervise and help with school / homework. Help running the household (some ironing and light laundry), sometimes picking up groceries etc. would be great.
My current nanny works for us on a semi / full-time basis whilst juggling her own cake business. On average she does between 16-22 hours when I am working on a drama project / during school holidays more like 30 hours. When I am in post-production, I work normal office hours so I only need cover 12-18 hours but I am happy to pay a guaranteed number of hours*. When I am in between projects I only need 12-16 hours per week but again, I am happy to pay a monthly retainer and set minimum salary guaranteed (*subject to negotiation) so you're still earning. I also pay holiday.
I am looking for a nanny to be in for my daughter when she returns home from school (3.30pm/4pm - 6.30pm /7pm) Monday - Friday (*although she usually goes to her dad’s once a week). You would prepare snacks, and make dinner. When I am filming I will need very early starts (6am) breakfast until 8am, the odd overnight stay covered too. My film shoots only last between 6-10 weeks (generally I only film once per year). All day cover also if I am filming when it's school holidays. Sometimes I film nights or weekends but it's with notice and generally no longer than a couple of weeks.
Pay Rate is £18-£25 +** per hour negotiable subject to experience and deal. **A variable weekly fee rate that is higher than this when I'm working on projects is also something I offer - we can discuss how this works as it's mutually beneficial!
Ideally, you should be prepared to travel for a few days / weeks a year - *if I have work that is filming elsewhere UK / Europe and in the US. I’d have a few months lead time to arrange how we manage this.
You should be DBS checked, have basic paediatric first aid training. You should have at least 3 years recent childcare references. My last few nannies have been freelance but I've also used NannyPaye to set up contract, payroll and pension in the past.
Current nanny has been with us very happily for over 3 years.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are totally unable to do certain days or early mornings / evenings or travel because of regular study or personal / domestic commitments this position is not for you. If you are not a UK citizen and do not have an approved work visa or approved settle please don't apply for this role.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing from you!

Maria has worked with us for over two years (caring for my daughter from under two years old). She is an extremely conscientious, caring and pro-active nanny. She has a consistently calm, happy, affectionate manner with a gentle and relaxed (yet firm when she needs to be). She is excellent at planning fun and educational activities both out and about and at home. She updates you regularly on your child's progress and is very sensitive to any possible development issues. She is great with keeping to a set daily / nightly routine. I trust her implicitly with the care of my child - I never have to worry when I am working long hours away from my child. My daughter truly adores Maria and considers her very much part of the family. I could not recommend her more highly!
Stroma has worked for me on an ad-hoc basis looking after my young daughter (when my nanny was unavailable) babysitting at our home. She is bright, fun, responsible, gentle and caring. She is great at creative play. It is a pleasure having her around. Highly recommended.
