About Me
Hi, I'm Claire, 32, originally from North Wales but have been living in Southampton for nearly 4 years now. Looking for a part-time role (max 3 days per week), either locally or would consider part-time line-in if further afield. Also happy to travel with a family if required.
I studied Psychology with Child Studies at university and have postgraduate certificates in Low Intensity CBT and Mental Health. I have just completed the 12 hour Paediatric first aid training and have an enhanced DBS.
I've most recently been working as a psychological well-being practitioner with adults but due to some health issues and re-evaluating what I want from life have realised that I really miss working with children and their families. I'd be looking at this as a long-term career change.
For those interested I'm triple covid vaccinated.
My Experience
I have a lot of experience with children... For a start, I have 8 nieces and nephews who I've often looked after! Sometimes all at once!!!
I have experience of working with children from Newborn - 16 years old as well as with a variety of different special educational needs and disabilities too.
In the summer (2020) I finished working as an assistant psychologist for young girls who had suffered trauma and have previously worked as a nanny / au pair for various families in London. I have also worked as a play therapist for a young, non-verbal, child with Autism.
I have previously done some private tutoring and also have some work experience as a teaching assistant, as well as, voluntary work abroad working in orphanages and teaching English to children there.
I have also taught dance classes to children aged 3-18 years old and worked in a specialist autistic school helping with teaching, after school and weekend clubs for children with Autism and other SEN.
