Fabulous!

We could not be happier with the care our son receives here. He absolutely loves going to Nita and Lou’s house and is always excited to see what the day will bring. Nita and Lou clearly know each child incredibly well and have built strong, nurturing relationships with them.
The activities they do each day are thoughtfully planned, often around engaging themes that support the children's development and learning. The set up for the children is wonderful, with a beautifully organised room full of high-quality resources and a fabulous garden that the children make great use of. Our son especially loves the huge mud kitchen and often talks about it at home.
There are so many enriching experiences on offer, from growing and trying different foods to encouraging independence in everyday tasks. The children are regularly taken on outings to a variety of places, including libraries, parks, wildflower meadows, Murton Park and even local primary school events. Nita and Lou also meet up with other childminders which provides fantastic opportunities to build relationships and develop social skills with a wider group of children.
The routines they have are exceptionally well organised, helping all of the children feel secure and settled.
It is clear that all of the children love being here. Our son is never in a hurry to leave at pick-up time—in fact, he often runs back inside to carry on playing! Even on the weekend he will ask if it’s a day to go to Nita and Lou’s house. As parents, it is great to go to work knowing not only that our son is being cared for so well but that he is genuinely happy, thriving and learning every day.

Wholeheartedly recommend!

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Nita and Lou to care for our little boy, Rowan. He is now 19 months old and has been with them since he was 10 months, and it has been such a positive experience for all of us.

Rowan absolutely loves going there each day, which says everything. Nita and Lou create such a warm, happy and nurturing environment, and it is clear they genuinely care for him as if he were their own. As a parent, that level of trust and reassurance is invaluable.

They spend lots of time outdoors and regularly take the children on outings and excursions, which we really appreciate. It is wonderful knowing Rowan is not only well cared for, but also stimulated, active and enjoying new experiences.

They have also been incredibly accommodating and understanding of the realities of working parent life. On one occasion, we needed to add an extra day at relatively short notice, and they were more than happy to help. That flexibility has made a huge difference to us.

Communication is excellent. They are always prompt which gives great peace of mind. I also love the weekly Tapestry updates with photos and videos. It is obvious from these how much fun Rowan is having and how engaged he is in everything they do.

Nita and Lou are genuinely lovely people, friendly, approachable and clearly passionate about what they do. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any parents in York looking for affordable, trustworthy and caring childcare.

Outstanding Childminder — Home From Home

Our little girl has been with Nita since she was just 9 months old — she’s now 27 months and absolutely thriving. Over this time, she has grown into the kindest, most compassionate little girl with a love of books, adventuring, and learning. She has so much confidence and such a zest for life — we’re pretty sure she doesn’t even remember a time before Nita and Lou!

Nita and Lou provide a truly safe, comfortable, and nurturing space for our little one to grow and thrive. They offer the perfect balance of structure, fun, and exploration. Maeve has regular days out to discover new places and spends a lot of time outdoors in all weather conditions — something we absolutely love. Whether it’s exploring nature, playing in the garden, or enjoying creative activities indoors, there’s always something engaging and enriching for her to do.

It’s clear that Nita’s setting has been the best possible environment for Maeve to learn, grow, and build her confidence. We could not have asked for better care or support — she is truly flourishing. The communication through Tapestry, the thoughtful activities, and the genuine affection that Nita and Lou show every day give us complete peace of mind. A clear indicator of Maeve’s approval is that she often talks about Nita and Lou and tells us every Sunday how excited she is to see them on Monday.

On a practical note, we also appreciate that Nita’s childminding is competitively priced, with flexible options to use funded hours spread across the year rather than just term-time, as well as tax-free childcare — making high-quality care accessible and flexible for working families.

We are beyond grateful for everything Nita and Lou do for our family. Their setting is a true home-from-home where children are loved, supported, and encouraged to be curious, kind, and confident. We can’t recommend them highly enough and will miss them greatly as we move to a new area in 2026.

What an incredible childcare setting.

Anita and Louise honestly are amazing with our little boy. On a personal level I feel they are the most caring and loving people we’ve ever met. The way they go above and beyond to meet our sons needs and help him grow and learn daily. I really couldn’t have chosen a better childcare setting for our son to go to.

Outstanding childcare provider

Where do I start - words can’t fully express how amazing Nita and Lou are. We are so grateful to have found such amazing childminders! Nita and Lou are incredibly nurturing, always going above and beyond to ensure our child feels loved and supported. They are kind, patient, and consistently accommodating, adapting to our family's needs with ease. Their thoughtful approach and dedication to providing a safe, fun, and enriching environment make us feel confident and reassured. Nita and Lou are wonderfully accommodating, especially during school holidays when they care for our daughter – they make those times special with fun activities and plenty of attention. Both of our children absolutely love going to Nita and Lou and we can tell how much they enjoy their time there. We feel completely reassured knowing they are in such capable, caring hands. We couldn't ask for better people to care for our children, and we wholeheartedly recommend both Nita and Lou to anyone looking for trustworthy and exceptional childminders.

Childcare for my little girl

Firstly, I would like to say how amazing Nita and Louise were when we’ve initially came to meet them. They made us feel so comfortable and were such open and approachable people. We had two sessions to help my little girl settling although this was hard to leave her as expected. We really did feel comfortable leaving our daughter here knowing that she was in safe and experienced hands..
Ever since we have been using them, we have been nothing but comfortable, Happy and relaxed knowing that she will be having the best day and is cared for to the standards that we care for her. It is so lovely to see all the pictures and videos that are taken throughout the day that we can logon to our portal and see how she is getting on. This is really reassuring and fill us with confidence so that we can enjoy our day and not be sat worried, our daughter has recently stopped crying or feeling a little sad when we drop her off at childcare and she now openly reaches her arms out to be taken. This is just shows itself how much she is enjoying it which fills us with such confidence that we picked the right childcare for our daughter to go to. We have seen a massive improvement in our daughter being comfortable in going and being around New/strange people as she was quite reserved initially. I really do think the interaction with both Nita and Louise and all the other children has really developed our girl in such a positive way.

Amazing childminder

Anita has looked after my daughter since she was 8 months old. From the get go I always felt confident my daughter was happy and well looked after. Anita provides a home from home environment and I have been extremely happy with the care she has received, and the progress she has made whilst in Anita’s care. Anita’s home is always welcoming, clean and well organised and my daughter has great fun playing with all the toys available and with the other children in her care. Beyond all this, it is Anita’s warm and friendly which sets her apart. She provides a wide, fun range of activities including plenty of outdoor exercise.
Anita is a great communicator and has no trouble in gaining Emilia’s confidence and therefore encouraging good behaviour and kindness and compassion to others, both skills which are important to us at home.
I am confident that Anita can administer either first aid or medication following all the correct procedures. Overall I cannot recommend Anita’s childminding services enough!

Outstanding Childminder

From the moment our daughter, just 9 months old at the time, entered Anita's care, we knew we had found someone special. Anita exudes warmth and creates a nurturing environment that our daughter adores. Now nearing her fourth birthday, our daughter continues to flourish under Anita's guidance. Anita's dedication goes beyond basic childcare; from fun days out to developing our daughter's skills in her lovely home, she ensures each day is filled with new discoveries. Anita's professionalism, reliability, communication, kindness, and flexibility have eased many pressures of being a working parent. Amazing, Caring and Kind Childminder

I was really anxious putting my little boy into child care when he was 7 months old, he has now been with Nita for 2 years and is thriving. Nita put us both at ease. She is so kind and patient with him. She knows him inside out which is a testament to how good she is as a childminder and what every parent wants for their child when they are looked after by someone else. He is always so happy to go and does lots of age appropriate activities throughout the day. Nita is reliable, punctual and thoughtful. She has really kind, intuitive and up to date methods that she uses with the children that we really like. We couldn’t recommend her more.

Best Childminder

Anita is the best childminder, so happy that we came across her.She is professional, kind,flexible and a very lovely and welcoming person. My daughter is always happy when she is with her,she is well looked after and I know that she is in safe hands .She learned so many things since she is with Nita from independence to social skills ,speech,confidence and still learning new things day by day
