About Me
My name is Jan and I live in Horsforth, Leeds with my partner and our two children. I am an enthusiastic and experienced childminder with full and part time places available. I chose to become a childminder as I have thoroughly enjoyed being at home with my own two children and would like to offer the same warm, safe and secure family environment for other children. After juggling childcare and work for the last 15 years myself, I know how important it is to find excellent childcare that you can trust. I am Ofsted Registered (graded Good at my last inspection in 2023), DBS checked and I regularly update my paediatric first aid course and Safeguarding training. I am a member of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years, and of the Horsforth Childminding Group. I can offer 30 hours funded places to eligible children, and I accept childcare vouchers and tax free childcare payments.
Our home is child friendly and smoke free. Inside, we have a play room full of toys for all ages for indoor play and a large kitchen with plenty of space for high chairs for snacks and meals.. Outside, we have a large, enclosed garden with a playhouse and lots of outdoor toys for sunny days. We are a short walk from Horsforth Hall Park and our walk to and from school usually involves calling in for a play on the swings and slides on the way home!
I offer both short and long-term childcare, and am happy to provide care at short notice if I have availability.
Our house is well located just off the A65 and Leeds Ring Road, providing a very easy drop off for parents commuting into Leeds from Rawdon, Yeadon, Guiseley, Ilkely or further afield.
My Experience
I have been a Childminder for ten years and a parent for nineteen. In addition to my hands-on experience, I undertake regular training courses to ensure my practical skills are enhanced by theoretical knowledge.

Level 3 childcare
Continuous professional development courses attended.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
My hours are term-time only, Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5.30 pm, at a rate of £6 per hour (minimum of six hours). This includes all meals and snacks, and all outings. For babies under 12 months, all food and milk should be provided by parents. Please note, school drop off and collection is from West End Primary only.

Jan is absolutely wonderful with our kids she has taught them so much, she doesn't just look after them and play with them but she helps us get our kids in the right routine, she has created so many memories for our children. Jan looks after my little boy at the moment but she use to look after our little girl before she started school. I know my little girl has had a great time and experience at Jans because she still tells me about all the great times she had and wants to go back. She has met so many friends and has learnt how to play with other children and more confident when communicating with other kids. Jan keeps us updated on how our kids are doing and how they are developing. She can also be flexible on some days if needed which is a huge bonus for us.

My daughter first started with Jan when we moved to Leeds 2 years ago. On first meeting, both my partner and I knew instantly that Jan would be the best childminder for her. Since then, our son came along and he now goes to Jan’s and he absolutely loves it too! He’s always eager to get in her house and play the minute we arrive. The guidance, advice and support from Jan over these years has been invaluable and we can’t thank her enough! My children have built amazing friendships with Jan, her family and the other children there. And even though my daughter is in school now, she says it’s unfair because she just wants to go to Jan’s instead!

Jan is brilliant with our child, who she has known since he was 5 months old. He absolutely loves her and did so from the very beginning. She’s gentle, polite and kind and always provides Alf with stimulating things to do and places to go. If I could give 5 stars, I would!
