Childminder in ROMFORD
My Summary
Beautiful Cozy Cabin And Garden For Children To Learn, Grow And Develop! Limited Spaces Available.
About Me
Hi, I’m Mary. I live in Collier Row in a comfortable home with a large, beautiful garden. I’m very fortunate to have a purpose-built cabin at the end of my garden, specially designed for children. It supports all areas of learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
We have daily access to the garden, where a variety of equipment and activities are set up to support children’s learning, development, and current interests. Children are encouraged to choose what they would like to play with, helping to build their independence and confidence.
I live with my husband, Daniel, and our son Alex, who is 15 and attends Marshalls Park Academy. We also have a medium-sized Frenchie/Staffy dog who is friendly, gentle, and well-trained. She has been around children since she was 7 weeks old, and all interactions with the children are always carefully supervised.
I accept funded places for children aged 9 months, as well as 2, 3, and 4-year-olds. Spaces are limited, so please get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.
Alongside caring for babies from 6 months and children under 5, I offer before- and after-school care for children attending Crownfield Infants and Junior School, with a variety of fun and engaging extracurricular activities.
I am a friendly, caring, and experienced childminder dedicated to supporting children’s growth and development through the EYFS curriculum. I take pride in providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. I have been Ofsted-registered since February 2015 and have consistently maintained a ‘Good’ rating, including at my latest inspection in July 2024.
I take children on regular trips and outings to help them learn about their local environment while developing social and physical skills. We frequently visit parks, local forests (including Forest School), the library for story time and singing, soft play centres, gymnastics sessions, playgroups, and ‘Little City’ role-play sessions.
I plan activities to support children’s development across all areas of the EYFS. By observing each child and working closely with families, I tailor support to meet individual needs and plan next steps in their learning. Where additional support or intervention is needed, this is provided. I also carry out the two-year progress check and regularly discuss each child’s development with parents.
I believe strong communication with families is essential to provide the best care for every child. We also explore different cultures, backgrounds, religions, and diversity, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
As a mum myself, I understand how important it is to find the right childcare. I aim to provide a home-from-home environment where children feel safe, settled, and happy to learn and play.
Reviews from current and past parents are available upon request.

My Experience
I have over 28 years of childcare experience and hold an NNEB Diploma in Childcare. I am also qualified in Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene, and both my husband and I hold up-to-date DBS checks.
I have completed the CACHE Award in Preparing to Work in Home-Based Childcare and have worked across a range of settings, including day nurseries, children’s centres, and schools. For the past 11 years, I have been working as a childminder.
During this time, I have cared for children aged from 6 months to 11 years and have developed a strong understanding of their individual needs. I also have experience supporting children with special educational needs, as well as those with specific medical conditions and allergies, ensuring they receive the appropriate care and support.
I am passionate about giving children the best possible start in their early years. I ensure every child feels part of my family and provide high-quality care, drawing on my experience and qualifications.
I am committed to continuous professional development and regularly undertake training to keep my knowledge up to date. Mary has been looking after my 3 children for the last 8 1/2 years. They have loved every second and would ask if they were going to Mary’s in the holidays. She is kind, caring and put the children’s needs 1st. She is super professional and lets you know about the children’s adventures throughout the day. They do so many activities it’s hard to keep up. My children felt like Mary’s was their second home, this gave me the confidence to go to work knowing they are happy and well cared for. I can’t recommend Mary enough.
