My Summary
About Me
Hello!
My name is Lucy, and I am a 34-year-old nanny based in South Leicestershire.
I am a caring, reliable and hardworking person with a genuine passion for working with children and supporting families. I pride myself on being kind, trustworthy and approachable, and I always go out of my way to help others and create a happy, positive environment.
I am also a proud mum to my young son, who has brought an entirely new perspective to my childcare experience and deepened my understanding of children’s development and family life. Watching him grow and learn every day is a joy, and becoming a parent has only strengthened my passion for caring for and supporting children.
I love spending time outdoors, and being in nature is my happy place. I also enjoy animals, arts and crafts, music, and finding creative ways to keep children engaged, learning and having fun.
I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your children, and I always strive to build strong relationships with both children and parents alike.
Talking about myself doesn’t come naturally, especially in writing, so if there’s anything you’d like to know, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions.
My Experience
I currently work part-time from home as a Studio Administrator for a local dance school. After having my son in January 2025, I chose a role that would allow me to be a full-time mum while he is still so young. Life is certainly busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
My journey into childcare began when I was around 15 years old, helping my mum teach dance classes to young children at her dance school. From that point on, I discovered how much I enjoyed working with children and knew it was something I wanted to pursue.
At 18, I went to university to study Children, Young People and Families. Alongside my studies, I worked in a nursery and after-school club, both to gain experience and help fund university life. After graduating and relocating back home, I worked in another nursery for just over a year before moving into a role as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school. I spent three wonderful years there, working 1:1 supporting an autistic child and supporting their learning, development and day-to-day experiences within school. It was an incredibly rewarding role that I absolutely loved. The only reason I left was to fulfil a dream of travelling around New Zealand.
While travelling, I worked as a nanny for a family in New Zealand, which was a fantastic experience and gave me the opportunity to continue doing something I love while exploring a new country.
When I returned home, I became a nanny for two children aged 4 and 8, a role I held for four years. Unfortunately, when both children moved to private school and their days became much longer, the family no longer needed a nanny.
During this time, I also began caring for a one-year-old girl a couple of mornings each week. As the family’s needs grew, so did my role, especially when a second daughter arrived. Over time, I became a nanny, housekeeper and PA, as well as managing the family’s holiday let. It was a varied and busy role that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sadly, I eventually needed to move on after buying my own home and wanting a better balance between earning and maintaining the lifestyle I enjoy, including travelling.
My most recent nanny role involved caring for a 12-year-old girl. I supported her with school routines, school runs, after-school care and holiday care. I remained with the family for three years until I began maternity leave in January 2025.
I am a caring, reliable and proactive person who genuinely enjoys helping others. I love spending time outdoors—being in nature is my happy place—and I enjoy animals, sports, arts and crafts, and music (although I can’t play an instrument… yet!).
I would describe myself as a “Jill of all trades” and am always happy to muck in wherever needed. Throughout my previous roles I have undertaken a huge variety of responsibilities including childcare, school and nursery runs, cooking, cleaning, gardening, ride-on mowing, dog walking, helping on a farm, managing holiday-let bookings and guest relations, invoicing, office administration, and much more.
I am now the proud mum of a happy, sociable and smiley 18-month-old little boy who loves being around other children and getting out and about. Ideally, I am looking for a small part-time role where I would be able to bring him along with me.
I understand that having a nanny with their own child isn’t the right fit for every family, but if it’s something you would be open to, I would love to hear from you.
