My Summary

My Experience

Since a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in childcare and education. I began this journey when I started working as a mobile crèche worker for Project Genesis in Pembrokeshire County Council and as a voluntary teaching assistant in the local primary school while studying my first year of my BSc Hons degree in Childhood Studies. During the following 2 years of my degree, I was a supply teaching assistant and worked in numerous schools across South Wales. I took on a variety of roles ranging from working with small groups in nursery settings to working 1:1 with secondary school pupils with special educational needs.

Once graduating from my Primary PGCE, I moved to Italy and taught children aged 5 to 7, most of whom had English as an additional language. Then, I taught 3 to 4 year olds on the South coast of Spain before moving to London where I taught in an independent school. I started in the Early Years department and moved into Key Stage 1 where I taught Year 1 and became Head of Department.

In 2018, I moved back to Wales and qualified as a childminder so I could look after my own children and earn a living at the same time. Due to COVID, my doors closed in 2020 and I went back to teaching when my children were in full time school.
