About Me
am an experienced Primary Teacher with 15+ years' experience, specialising in EYFS, KS1, phonics and early reading. I currently lead Early Years within a primary school and have extensive experience supporting children to develop confidence in reading, phonics, communication and early literacy.
I offer friendly, engaging 1:1 tuition tailored to each individual child. I particularly enjoy working with children in Reception and KS1 who may need a little extra support with phonics, blending, reading, writing or school confidence.
My sessions are practical, positive and engaging rather than simply completing worksheets. I believe young children learn best when they feel relaxed, successful and enjoy what they are doing.
I am a qualified teacher, DBS checked and have worked across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 throughout my career.
I am currently available for a limited number of tutoring sessions, including Thursday daytime, which may particularly suit home-educated children or children requiring daytime educational support.
My Experience
I have worked as a primary teacher for 15 years. I also manage the reading and phonics across EYFS and KS1 for my current school. As a Specialist Leader of Education for Reading I support teachers across my borough to better understand the development of children's early literacy skills. I have worked in partnership successfully with many other colleagues/settings to raise standards.
My Qualifications
PGCE university of Bedford - Primary with Italian
Ba 2:1 University of Kent - English Literature and Comparative Literary Studies.

We have been using Catherine as a tutor for our daughter for the past few months in order to get her more proficient and confident with her phonics and reading.
We searched for a long time to find the perfect tutor for her and can now say we have found one and that is Catherine.
Our daughter is only 6 so was a little scared by the whole 'tutor learning' but Catherine came around and was great with her. She works brilliantly with our daughter, friendly, relaxed, and very professional.
Her phonics read improved so much from just one lesson her teacher at school asked us what we were doing differently and she changed her book level up after just two sessions with Catherine.
We are so pleased with how she is excelling that we have now asked Catherine to also branch into spelling and writing too as she really enjoys her tutor sessions and the one on one learning is helping her improve at school so much.
If you after a great tutor your child will like then, I highly recommend Catherine.
