About Me
Hi, my name is Carina. I am 39 years old. I am a qualified teacher who thoroughly enjoys working with children and I am enthusiastic about helping a child develop their individuality. I am very patient and place great emphasis on nurturing children to achieve their potential. I enjoy arts and crafts and being creative. I have a bearded dragon and a Labrador Retriever. I grew up in Chorleywood and went to school there. I am currently in the process of setting up my childminding business and I am available for nannying roles (for families that are happy for me to bring my daughter who was born in January 2022) and for 1:1 private tutoring throughout the year (I am happy to travel or I can host tutoring sessions where I live).
My Experience
I am a teacher who specialises in Foundation (Nursery and Reception) and KS1 (yr1 and yr2). I have been teaching for 15 years, although I have over 17 years experience of working with children in different roles. I am also a qualified Nursery Nurse and have worked with children from birth right through to 12 years old. I have experience of working as a nanny, a baby sitter and a nursery nurse prior to my teaching. I have worked as a supply teacher so I have a breadth of experience in different schools. In the past I was a regular supply teacher in a special needs school, and I have limited experience of makaton (sign language). My experience also includes working for Hertfordshire Adult and Family Learning Service (HAFLS) based in different schools and child centres.
My last teaching post was in a primary school in Rickmansworth as a PPA teacher across Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2.
My Qualifications
I have a BTEC National Diploma in Early Years (0-5 years).
My degree is in Psychology: (Bsc Hons Psychology 2:1)
I am a qualified Primary Teacher (4-11 years) with QTS (Qualified Teacher status.)
I have a certificate in teaching water confidence in a shallow pool.
I have a First Aid certificate.
