About Me

Hi my name is Julie,

As a Maternity Nurse I provide empathetic and expert care for both newborns and their families during the postpartum period, focusing on both the mother’s physical and emotional recovery and all aspects of the newborn’s care and development. I will support you with breast/bottle-feeding, and introduce a variety of techniques that suit you and your baby best. Partners can be involved in this too. I help navigate a fully-workable feeding and sleeping pattern that suits you as a family and baby’s temperament. I provide guidance on safety and hygiene and the proper use of baby equipment. I understand that welcoming a new baby is a deeply personal time. I am always flexible and discreet, always respecting family’s need for privacy and space to bond with their newborn. I am there when needed and I can step back when the family needs time alone. I am available for daily or night shifts as well as 24/6 care. I am willing to travel.

Children thrive on praise and encouragement and, as a nanny, I focus on reinforcing positive behaviour as part of my strategy. It works well and builds self-esteem and motivation in children. Your child’s happiness, safety and well-being is my priority. I work closely with parents and keep a daily diary, giving them a chance to catch up on their child’s day and also to give me any feedback. I respect parents’ wishes and am open and willing to listen to new ideas and suggestions. I feel I am easy to work around if a parent is working from home or on maternity leave. I am a confident cook and provide healthy and nutritious meals taking into account any food allergies and cultural dietary needs and beliefs.

In my spare time my hobbies and interests include power walking, running, swimming, cycling, cooking, art and listening to music. In recent years I have taken part in four consecutive virtual London Marathons, raising money for the Autistic Society. I also volunteer at my local riding stables supporting the RDA, connecting children with disabilities with horses.
