My Summary
Highly Experienced, Nature Focused And Nurturing Childminder In Broadwater
About Me
Wild Ferns Childminding is a small, family-focused setting near Worthing station, offering a calm, nurturing space for babies and toddlers aged 9 months to 3 years.
Your child will be cared for in a warm home environment alongside my own children (aged 5 and 9), who love taking on the role of gentle, friendly “big siblings”.
At Wild Ferns, children spend their days exploring, playing, and connecting with nature. We enjoy regular outings to the beach, picnics in the park, trips to the library, and adventures in the Downs—giving your child plenty of opportunities to learn through real-world experiences.
Our days follow a simple, gentle rhythm, allowing time for unhurried play, restful naps, and outdoor exploration. The garden is a big part of our setting, with a mud kitchen, sandpit, water play, tents, ride-on toys and space to dig, plant, and grow. The children love helping with gardening and watching flowers and vegetables flourish.
I have a professional background in children’s social care and am passionate about providing high-quality, nurturing early years care.
I place a strong focus on supporting early speech and language development through stories, songs, conversation, and lots of warm, responsive interaction.
I accept EYE funding for full hours, and families provide food and snacks, keeping costs simple and transparent. If you require additional days, funding can be split across settings to suit your needs.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, nature-rich environment where your child will feel safe, valued, and excited to learn, I’d love to hear from you.
My Experience
I have a professional background in children’s social care, advocacy, and training, with a strong focus on safeguarding and supporting children’s wellbeing. This experience has given me a deep understanding of how to create environments where children feel safe, secure, and able to thrive.
I have worked closely with children and young people across a range of settings, supporting their development, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. I bring this knowledge into my childminding by providing warm, responsive, and attentive care tailored to each child’s individual needs.
As a parent to two children (aged 5 and 9), I understand how important it is to find childcare that feels both safe and nurturing. I aim to offer families a home-from-home environment where children are truly cared for, supported, and encouraged to grow in confidence.
I am registered with Ofsted and received a Good grading at my previous inspection in 2021, reflecting my commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for children. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing in a thoughtful and consistent way.
My Qualifications
I hold a BA (Hons) in International Development and a Master’s degree in Social Work. My academic background has given me a strong understanding of child development, family systems, and the wider factors that influence children’s wellbeing. I use this knowledge to support a thoughtful, nurturing, and child-centred approach in my setting.
I hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate, ensuring I am able to respond quickly and confidently in the event of an emergency.
I also complete regular safeguarding training to keep my knowledge up to date. This helps me maintain a strong understanding of child protection and ensures that children are always cared for in a safe, secure environment.

I had to find childcare for my son Aidan to cover when my mother in law was away for a month. George was amazing. Aidan is 1 (very active and loves going out). He had a lovely time with George. They went outside every day and did lots of exploring nature/singing and reading. He ate delicious nutritious food and was so happy when I picked him up to go home. He stills talks about George and playing with her daughter. I have no qualms in recommending George and her lovely nurturing and homely setting. We got loads of photos of what Aidan was doing throughout the day which was very reassuring. I had visited other childminders in Worthing and felt George's setting provided something different. It was very calm and seems to very much follow the Steiner/gentle parenting model.
