About Me
I have four adult 'children' and four beautiful grandaughters. I have been involved in early years childcare since completing my NNEB Nursery Nursing/nanny qualification in 1979! I am,however, a very energetic, fun loving, dynamic 61 year old. I 'retired' from my post as manager of a full time childcare setting (6 week olds to 11 years) at the end of 2016, I stayed until the Christmas as I wanted to 'do' one last nativity!
My 'retirement' is being filled with house renovation, travelling, walking and cycling (MTB, Road and BMX racing). I also run Bmxercise classes for women & teens. But, despite what I was told years ago that 'you get disenchanted working with little children', I still find supporting and caring for children fascinating, seeing their individual characters grow and develop, hence my decision to undertake private nanny positions. I love to plan engaging activities and relish the opportunity to develop learning through play; both in and outside of the home.
My Experience
Across the years since qualifying I have held many posts around raising my own children. Prior to their arrival I worked as a private nanny, a nursery nurse within a school nursery and was a registered childminder. Post children's arrival I was joint pre school leader at Sandcastles in Tiverton and remain friends with the staff from that establishment even though it was 25 + years ago! I became a room leader whilst working at Kingfishers, EDC Nursery, managing the 'tiddler' group (18 months to 24 months), although I also worked across the whole of the setting.
Moving into the formal education sector supporting 'learning through play' in a reception class, Witheridge Primary school, alongside gaining my HLTA status. After 10 years in this post I switched across to the on site pre-school developing the 9-3.30 setting into a full time 6 week- 11 year old full time childcare setting*.
Whilst in the role of childcare manager* I also engaged with the development and roll out of the Thrive initiative supporting the development of emotional well being amongst the children in our setting. Subsequently recognising how valuable this initiative was I became the Thrive Early Years Champion, leading the Thrive initiative across the early years settings of the Crediton and Chulmleigh Learning community.
Full, clean driving licence and I am prepared to drive children around if needed, although prefer them to walk/cycle when possible.

My Availability
Variable, dependent on my current main clients requirements but I am very flexible with times, early starts, late nights, weekends. I currently have 3 main families using my service to support their busy, varied lifestyles, ages ranging from 2-12 years of age.
